Summary

His best friend has been murdered, his daughter's in danger.

There's only one answer. Going back to his old life.

The one that cost him his wife…

Michael Brady was a high-flying detective, working on a high-profile case.

And much too close to the truth.

Someone arranged a hit-and-run.

But they missed Brady. And hit his wife.

And after six months sitting by her bed, he took the only decision he could take. He turned the machine off.

Now he's back home in Whitby. Trying to rebuild his life. And be a good dad to his teenage daughter.

But when his best friend is murdered Brady–unwillingly at first–is drawn into the investigation.

And when the only people he has left are threatened, he finds there's only one answer.

Going back to his old life…

Salt in the Wounds is the first novel from award winning writer and blogger Mark Richards. It's set in Whitby, on the North Yorkshire coast, and tells the story of former Detective Inspector Michael Brady. His wife's dead and he's back in his home town–trying to rebuild his life and be a good dad to his 13 year old daughter.

Brilliant

The story was great and quite intriguing. The narration was brilliant and so easy to listen to I am now on Mark Richards second book with the same narrator and it is just as good. I will be looking out for more of the same author and the same narrator

Totally impressed . by both narrator and storyline. Its one of those books that although you want to know the conclusion you don't want it to end. So glad to have found this author, am now on 2nd book in series

Very enjoyable.

A very enjoyable listen. Following the loss of his wife Michael Brady retires to Whitby but circumstances pull him back in to investigating after the death of his friend. A variety of twists and turns throughout the book keep you guessing what the outcome will be. Highly recommended for fans of crime mysteries. Very good narration brings the story to life.

We grew along with Michael’s journey

As Brady’s story unfolded and his liaisons grew I feel as a listener I was drawn to liking him and growing along with him.
A bit maverick for someone who is a DCI but really enjoyed the story and will definitely listen to more in the series

Excellent characterisations

I am 73 and have read and listened to hundreds of books in this genre, ranging in quality from bad to excellent. This story is definitely in the excellent category. Some very likeable characters, a few truly vile and a definite psychopath! I appreciated the dry Northern humour portrayed by the very talented narrator.
Read it yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent Book

We received this as a complimentary book. So often these are not worth listening to. This was the opposite. The book was easy to listen to as the narration was excellent. The story only gets stars but don't let you be put off by that. I have now purchased the authors second book and am busy enjoying it. You need to start with this book as the charectors follow on.
