About this listen
An impending apocalypse. An opportunity to prevent it. The challenge? Earn humanity's survival by saving fantastical worlds from their own destruction. Simple, huh?
The vast comet should have destroyed us....
When it slowed, then landed, everything we thought we knew about the universe changed. And for Mark, things just got far stranger and much more dangerous.
They came from another dimension, condemning our selfish, greedy ways but sensing in us a potential to change. So when they chose Mark as a volunteer in their deadly trials to save the human race, how could he say no?
Join him on his quest for loot, levels, and powerful abilities. He'll need them all as he fights in kingdoms large and small, battling demons and dinosaurs, vampires and robots, orcs and...fairies?
For Mark, the price of saving the planet looks to be a world of hurt. Maybe he would've been better off if the comet hadn't landed so softly, after all?
Don't miss the beginning of this new LitRPG series that promises a mix of action and adventure, swords and sorcery, and a sprinkling of dark humor.

Sarcastically Good
A brilliant blend of comedy, action and sarcasm all wrapped up in an excellently written system apocalypse with a clear stated goal. Brilliant build up and character development.

Slow start but stick through it and it is worth it.
I got this as a free copy, and initially I was slightly frustrated by the authors need to constantly use phrases like ‘hotter than hell’,, ‘black as nights’ etc. BUT! It’s worth persevering, and after the Mc gets to the worlds, the story is well written and full of action. Better yet for one credit your getting about 3 books worth of audible.
Spoilers:
So the earth is going to be destroyed by a comet.. nope it’s an alien ship, they give us a chance if we volunteer to be tested, the test - survive game worlds!
The main MC starts in a test dungeon, then moves from world to world.
The narrators(s) are clear and easy to understand, the use of a male and female narrator always better in my opinion

A very British apocalypse
kinda in the title this is very dry sense of humour and has a lot of references to British culture and had an interesting idea and liked the execution.
The performance-
Overall a good performance at times some of the voices blend into each other but had a nice variety and was very clear and easy to listen to. I especially loved some of the globins voices and really brought the character to life.
The story -
I would first say I liked the story was a nice bit of popcorn entertainment and I want to see how it goes and what other worlds hold. First off mark out main character main motivation (his two dogs) I thought was a nice twist and is something I fully understood but at times seemed kinda forced. now my main issues with mark is he is the luckiest man ever and survived by the skin of his teeth on several different occasions when removed a bit of the tension. I also think he could have panicked a bit more as he gets on board real fast.
I like the world the aliens have some good potential and can bring the story basically anywhere which if done well will be fantastic.
Overall -
I did like this book made me laugh out a few times and kept going back for more but has some small points which at times took me out of it but found it to be an enjoyable story with lots of potential and look forward to seeing the next in the series

Wow! just wow!!
This has now taken the top spot, my favourite, and as an avid listener, over 800 audiobooks, that's not an easy achievement.
Perhaps it's the story, the quirky British comedy, the concept, the apt use of words, the narration, the natural progression without overdoing the litrpg elements or the mc that mirrors much of my real life in so many ways (until events unfold of course). There is something truly special about this book and I can't wait for the next one!!!

An excellent start to the series!
I loved the book. It takes a while to get the ball rolling but it's worth the wait in my opinion. The narrators did an amazing job.

Excellent LitRPG novel
Mark of the Fated is an excellent LitRPG which provides character building, humour and action in equal measure. It’s a slow build but worth the wait as the story progresses. I found the book to be very humorous but this is in line with the setting of the book. Overall a really enjoyable book and I cannot wait for the sequel. The Narration is also really good with them adding to the story by bringing the characters depth. Highly recommended to readers/ listeners.

Man, what an awesome story
I have received this free copy for an honest review. This was really an awesome story, a struggle for survival, for growth, to prove oneself and save all yours and all not yours. What a twist at the end as well. I need to know what happens next, seriously. It all seems like a futile struggle, but struggle they will, that is what we humas do. The narration is awesome, clear and easy to understand
Definitely recommend it!
