About this listen

Edgar Award nominee Robert Crais' L. A. Requiem is a gritty, harrowing look into the minds of a serial killer and the men determined to stop him.

Elvis Cole and former cop Frank Pike have been partners in a detective agency for 12 years. After an ex-girlfriend of Pike's disappears, the girl's father asks them to help the police with the search. When the missing persons case turns into a hunt for a killer who has been stalking victims in Los Angeles, Cole and Pike find themselves battling both a hostile police department and a madman.

Ron McLarty's masterful narration subtly builds a sense of Cole's and Pike's growing desperation to find some link between the victims as the body count continues to grow.

1st time that I’ve read Robert Crais

I really enjoyed this audible book. Crais is a great author and Mclarty read so well. I am going to find another book by the same author

could not finish the story

I was very disappointed as the story was so poorly read I had to give up after a few minutes. The reader gives no inflection at all. I had enjoyed other stories by Crais

Good find

Robert Crais had completely gone under my radar and I only stumbled across him because my favorite narrator, Mr Mclarty, was performing it. I had a long commute for many years and Ron had accompanied me for a fair few of those journeys, particularly listening to David Baldacci books. It was a sad day for me personally when he decided to stop doing them. However, there is no enjoyment greater than finding a gemstone when you don’t expect to, and this is what LA Requiem is. Well written, great characters and, as always, Ron Mclarty at his smoothest, absolute heaven. Although this appears to be the only Crais book that Mclarty has read, I am definitely looking forward to diving into the others in this series

Really unsettling

I feel very uncomfortable when the aggression between different people overrides all else. The self righteous cop who was bent on getting even with Pike was really far too much, people don't behave like that - the whole LA police force seemed to be guided by spite and their emotions - it was just silly.
The story was good overall, though I felt dissatisfied by this one especially the ending.
