About this listen

FROM THE #1 BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE HARRY BOSCH AND LINCOLN LAWYER SERIES

An electrifying standalone thriller that breaks all the rules!

Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

EXCITING AND CLEVER

A really good book, and one of the more exciting I have heard.

Well read and voiced, well paced, really a good example of an audiobook.

Loved it!

Really enjoyed this book, possibly even more than the Harry Bosch series of which I’ve listened to many.

Classic Connelly

Loved this. Beautiful voice and a thrilling story, with some good twists. Will definitely read or listen to the second in the series.

Another Michael Connelly masterclass.

I won't waste words like so many authors do (as I can state without being an author, obviously). My view is as per the heading.

brilliantly narrated, twisty crime tale. Well written and measured. We'll have that and more I think.

Flashback to a different time. 1996.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book but I have to admit the explanations of how you can fax from a computer and how a digital camera works had me laughing out loud. Did we really ever live without Google? So yes it's a bit dated but still a good story with the usual twists and turns. If you can get it in a sale (as I did) it's worth a listen.
