Summary
From the number one international best-selling author of Holy Island and Penshaw.
When the gods made man, they made a weapon....
After uncovering a fresh wave of corruption within the ranks of Northumbria CID, Detective Chief Inspector Ryan was looking forward to an uneventful summer. But, when a young woman is shot dead on the remote army ranges of the Northumberland National Park, Ryan is called in to investigate.
Meanwhile, violent crimes are being committed across sites of historic importance in the North East, the perpetrator leaving only a graffitied symbol as their calling card. As the body count rises, Ryan and his team must unravel the mystery behind its meaning - before it's too late....
Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

Spoilt by the sound editing!
As usual a good story by LJ Ross and well narrated by Jonathan Keeble. However poor editing lead to gaps in the audible production. Disappointed!

Another good one.
Covered a lot of characters for a shorter story but he even added a bit of humor. My favorite narrator as well.

“Never Gets Any Easier Does It?”
Once again, LJ Ross is on top form with the latest audiobook in the DCI Ryan series.
I enjoyed how the story kept you guessing until the end. As with the other audiobooks in the series it features plenty of twists and turns of the plot. Along with added humour too.
I particularly enjoyed how LJ Ross uses real places in the storyline. This adds to the overall reality of the story.
Jonathan Keeble once again is excellent as narrator bringing the various characters to life.
Having binge listened to this episode I can’t wait to start the next.

Not so good
Excellent performance but the plot was not as good as previous works in this series. The plot and action was rather rushed at the end. Did the author have a deadline to meet?
Despite this it was entertaining. Good for a medium haul flight but it could have been meatier. I hope the next in the series gets it mojo back.

Far too short
An absolutely brilliant DCI Ryan book. My only criticism is that it seemed to be over really quickly. A great plot and a fantastic ending! Loved it.

More please!
So this is the last of the DCI Ryan books on audible, i’ve enjoyed them all, but I think, for me, this is one of the best.
I love the characters, the humor, the story lines. I really enjoy listening to the dulcet tones of Mr. Keeble, although his accents are a little dodgy!
Please, please bring out some more. I have binged on this lot, so will enjoy listening to them all over again in another year or so!
I would advise listening to them in order, even though the first one wasn’t my favorite. That said, they work perfectly well as stand alone novels, as the very first one I listened to was the infirmary.
I’m hoping these books will get made into a TV series, as they are highly enjoyable!
