About this listen
These were supposed to be his golden years. But he’s much happier with something to do...like solve a murder.
Former detective sergeant Norman Norman’s retirement is boring him to tears. So when he’s asked to assist an upcoming female DI and mentor a new team of misfits in a sleepy Welsh coastal town, he jumps at the opportunity to lend his expertise. But the training has barely begun when a woman’s corpse washes up on the sand.
With no reports of missing persons, DS Norman is stumped...until the post-mortem reveals a shocking hint to the culprit being local. But with a growing list of suspects who all have iron-clad alibis, the experienced cop and his fledgling team’s first case could be their last.
Will DS Norman’s reinvigorated career end in a fizzer, or can he help his young charges nab a devious killer?
A Body on the Beach is the fast-paced first audiobook in the Rejoiner mystery series. If you like smart policemen, perfect British settings and a complex web of clues, then you’ll love P.F. Ford’s captivating whodunit.

Enjoyed the story - unsure about the narration.
New author for me and I wasn't disappointed in the story. However, the narrator let it down as he was unable vary the character voices. There was little to no distinguishing one character from another, man or woman, and so he had to tell the listener who was speaking as everyone sounded the same. I was really fed up of hearing Morgan said, Jude said, Norman said etc etc. Other narrators are able to contrast the voices of all characters, making the dialogue sound like an actual conversation and without the need to tell the listener who was speaking.
So,,,,,that said, I'll give the next book in the series a go and hope there is less of the annoying who said what.

A good story but spoiled by gawd awful Narrator!
The story was solid enough but the whinny drone and cringe worthy accents of the Narrator really scattered my concentration all over the place. As much as I like Ford's writing, I simply cannot listen to this Narrator.

Enjoyable Procedural
A likeable cast of misfits solving crime in Wales. No great surprises here but it's a nice listen as a murder is unravelled by a team of supposedly inept detectives who prove nothing of the sort. I enjoyed the narration and some of the Welsh place names are particularly tricky!

Brilliant read !
I am so hoping this series will consist of more than the 3 now available.
I’ve been totally caught up from the first chapter …..
characters that feel real and with potential …..story line that gripped from the start .
I was relieved it was devoid of ‘ irritating interference ‘ from the opposing team too !
I’m sorry I’ve come to the - very satisfying- conclusion to this case .
I started at book 3 🙄 …..so just case 2 to enjoy .

Not your ordinary police procedural
A free title but with real depth and excellent story crafting A likeable range of flawed characters and it will be great to see how these develop. Without giving away the outcome, it held my interest to the last second.

an easy going police procedural.
An interesting group of CID officers in a rural Welsh location have to solve the murder of a local woman. The almost.retired former London based senior policeman has selected a couple of experienced murder squad CID officers from outside the region to help the junior inexperienced CID squad shape up and helping them reveal talents they didn't realise they had

Good team work.
A rural police station in south Wales has been when officers, who have 'messed up,' are farmed out to. Region cherry picks their cases and the team are demoralised. When DCI Southall and DS Norman arrive, things change. A tricky case is unravelled, with junior officers stepping up to the plate. It has further stories written all over it, are there some?

how the characters are encouraged to develop
wasn't sure about this book but I really enjoyed it. especially how, with the right encouragement they blossom and develop. DS Norman is a truly but subtlety inspiring colleague.
