Summary

DCI Lesley Clarke has promised her new wife that their Scottish honeymoon won’t be spoiled by murder investigations.

But when she’s out for a walk on the first day and finds a body, she can’t help but be dragged into a case. The investigation is taken on by DI Jade Tanner and Dr Petra McBride of the Complex Crimes Unit, along with Lesley’s old colleague DS Mo Uddin.

Can the team discover who killed the woman floating in the loch? And will Lesley’s marriage be jeopardized by her obsession with the job before it’s even begun?

This novella comes between books seven (The Blue Pool Murders) and eight (The Lighthouse Murders) in the Dorset Crime series, or can be listened to alongside the McBride & Tanner series.

Please don't let Jan Cramer do Scottish accents!

Seriously... ever since Petra arrived all that time ago, they haven't improved. Every Scottish person she does sounds like Groundskeeper Willy. It offends my ears so much that I can't pay attention to the story. please... just... no more. it's an insult.

Unnecessary

I have loved this series of books and have read them all right from the first Zoe Finch book but was so disappointed with this. Totally unnecessary to the on going plot and not at all convincing. Just a little filler to build up the tension re Dennis’ arrest. The only saving grace was the narrator. I feel I’ve wasted a full credit on a ‘book’ which lasted just over an hour. This could have been included in volume 7 as a package. Volume 8 had better be a belter!

just too short to be worth the credits

Aaron a fan of the series I'm really disappointed. this book is really not worth the credits paid. its shorter than a podcast and perhaps should be free.

I wish I'd checked the running time!

Really disappointed with this. Not worth a credit for only an hour and a half. I have enjoyed the other books in the series, but this does not warrant using a credit 😒

Very disappointing

I want to say I am a massive fan of Rachel’s books. Started with Zoe Finch and went onto Lesley straight away. Bought and listened to all from both series. So was awaiting a new realise. So disappointed! This was just ridiculous from start to finish. The plot, and the performance (accents are very bad!). It came to an abrupt end. Full price but only 1 and bit hours.

Får too short and nothing much happens, doesn't seem properly explained

Nothing happens and it's not even 2hrs for a whole credit? Not worth it. Sorry!

Disappointingly short.

Full price, but way way too short. Not as engaging or value as previous offerings.

Very annoyed and disappointed

What waste of my audible credit, was enjoying the Dorset series as I live there, but think the Birmingham series is becoming too repetitive so will give it a miss for now

linking things together

A short which I enjoyed but it was expensive.... should be linked to story 7 with no extra charge as others do.
