Summary
Edward is living in a world he can't afford and to which he doesn't belong. To camouflage himself, he has catered to his friends' needs – fetching drycleaning, sorting flowers for premieres. It's a noble effort, really – anything to keep his best pals Robert and Stanza happy. In return, his proximity to them might sponge the shame of his birth and violent past cleanly away.
But the chink in his armour is his painfully unrequited love for Stanza. When he realises Stanza and Robert are an item, Edward is pushed too far. His little acts of kindness take a sinister turn, giving way to the unspeakable brutality Edward fears is at his core.
Are there limits to what he will do for his friends? Are there limits to what he will do to them?
Critic reviews
'Fresh, frightening, bittersweet and brutal. The Kellerby Code is wonderfully witty and delightfully dark.' (Chris Whitaker, bestselling author of We Begin at the End)

Better than Saltburn
Gripping story with well developed characters, and a plot that I didn’t expect! Great narration too.

Could Not Stop Listening
A good book, fascinating psychology(s), clever things presented simply - I'm coming back for another listen in a few months. Elevated to 5 stars by the narration, Jack Davenport is sublime. Waiting for the next Jonny Sweet, no pressure!

Too clever by half
Reminds me of Horowitz. And that is not good. Better than Horowitz, just. Too clever by half but not very interesting. That’s the problems. You can be clever as you like. The point is to be entertaining. It’s not. I think.

Briiliant story, characters, narration.
Flawed young actors and hangers on, a grand house, the in crowd and the outsiders who wish they weren't. Slight flavour of Brideshead and Saltburn, but brilliant in its own right, feels more modern. The thing I loved about this book was the writing, I was repeatedly transported to posh London, Oxford, private schools, but the longing and the anger of the main character throws it all into a minor key, sickly lighting effects.
Please write more books Jonny Sweet!!!

Held my attention all the way!
Excellent first novel, only just out. I was absolutely glued to it. I may listen again because the brilliant narrative galloped me through some wonderful writing and I'd like to give that more attention. Very cinematic although a lot of the dialogue is in the main character's head.
I pre-ordered this when Richard Osman mentioned, in a blog I think, how he'd been sent it to do a blurb and had been blown away by it.
Review utterly unaffected by the blissful narration of Jack Davenport. To be honest I stopped noticing his dulcet tones early on as the story got me.

A brilliant thriller!
As someone who’s not a huge reader/listener of crime or thriller, this one had me hooked. Brilliant!

Couldn't finish it
I nearly made it to the end but realised I had no interest in finding out what happened to anyone. Neither plot nor characterisation seemed plausible. Well narrated.

Give it a go, it really is worth the credit
I loved this book from the first page until it's last and a fantastic debut novel by Jonny Sweet. I sincerely hope that there is more to come from this talented writer.
