About this listen

A stunning book set in the Edwardian era about a seamstress working at Buckingham Palace. Full of drama, betrayal and compelling historical detail, perfect for fans of Lucinda Riley and Tracy Rees.

It is 1914 and Maria, a shy teenager, is appointed to Buckingham Palace as a seamstress for the royal family.

There, she is lucky enough to meet the Prince of Wales and is soon captivated by his glamour and intensity. But theirs is a doomed love affair and before long Maria’s life takes a tragic turn.

Torn between passion and integrity, she makes a choice that has devastating consequences …

Can a beautiful quilt, discovered many years later reveal the truth behind what happened to Maria?

Enjoyable

This book was an easy listen, a book that I found not to put down, and if I had to, I couldn’t wait to get back to it!

Interesting story, nice twists n turns

The narration wasn’t easy to listen to, very stilted, with comical accents. But I enjoyed the story, not sure I’ll look out for more though.

Good story idea but..

This had great potential as a story, really good ideas. interesting historical content.

Caroline's character was unlikeable, self absorbed and a bit pathetic. The 40 something, male voice sounded like a wobble old man had no presence or personality.

The narration was awful. voices, accents appeared to all come from my fair lady! seriously! Super posh or Eliza doolittle!

Wouldn't read another by this author or narrator.
