Mourning the death of his father and gravely injured at the hands of the English, Jamie Fraser finds himself running with a band of mercenaries in the French countryside, where he reconnects with his old friend, Ian Murray. A good short for Gabaldon fans
I liked the narrator's Scots accent, which fitted the characters well. If you love Diana Gabaldon's other books, this will not disappoint, but if you haven't read them, this may be confusing to some.

Good story
I enjoyed this story but wish I’d not left it years after reading the Outlander series before I read this because it joined a lot of dots.

Before the series
I really enjoyed listening to Jamie's & Ians time away in France, this is not ever highlighted really especially in the TV show.

Background
I wish I had read this during the outlander series, it fills in a bit of background about the relationship between Ian and Jamie. Enjoyed it very much, shame it wasn't longer.
