About this listen

This is it.

Alpha team goes once more into the breach.

On what will be their final missions ever in the Zulu Alpha - and the fight of their lives — Homer & Ali, and Predator & Juice, launch out into the terminal post-Apocalypse, as London is overrun by the very last rush of death covering the entire planet. Neither mission can fail, but can all four teammates survive? Or will some go down safeguarding the lives of those they love more than life itself?

Handon fights his way back from the dead.

As reinforcements flood into CentCom, ahead of the onslaught of the undead world, one man lies in a coma at the heart of humanity's final fallback position. But will the ghosts of all those who've fallen before, and the love of those who yet remain, be enough to bring him back to life, and back to the fight, in time to lead the final battle?

The last survivors man the Alamo of the Alamo.

As CentCom is overrun, and it all collapses and the screen goes black, the last heroes of humanity have one final chance to save the world. But as they cling to one another in their shrinking circle of life, will they be able pull it off from the mast of the last sinking ship in a world submerged in a sea of death...?

Love. Death. The End of the line. Endgame.

Breathtaking finale

Epic ending. Masterful performance. A suitable ending for an amazing series. Just wishing for more books! Not that it didn't finish properly, I just can't have enough. I'll miss every single character, every operator, every moment of this wonderful adventure.

End of an awesome saga

The only bad thing I can say about the arisen series is that it’s over. What an epic journey with alpha to save the world. In the words of Ali it any gonna suck it’s self.

Fantastic Conclusion

An awesome end to what has been a brilliant series of books. Sad to see it end, so much so I think I might just start it all again! In the words of my favourite character Pred "Damn dude!"

Action-packed end to the series!

Well, this series has kept me entertained for much of the last six months, (during what at times feels very much like our own zombie apocalypse!)

The only question is: What can follow this? I am feeling quite bereft!

Yes, as a series this is flawed: At times the descriptions are repetitive and the 'gung-ho' macho culture of the American operators gets a bit much. And is it just me that finds Ali's cruel disregard and contempt for anyone other than her team repellant, (not to mention the way Kate and Handon just forget their losses and 'move on')?

The zombie sharks, baboons, etc. that appeared in an earlier entry in the series were a self-indulgent mistake. There are also some loose ends which are not wrapped up- I wanted the epilogue to address these, such as finding out what happened to Alexei at the airport, and the Russians and Americans on the other ship.

The writer also spends too long on some areas of the story, (the rooftop epilogue being a case in point), and unaccountably glosses over other episodes- such as the retaking of the JFK, (earlier in the series), and how Noise gets off the river!

Overall, however, a world has been created that is both immersive and believable, and, at times, quite moving.

As I have said in previous reviews, the British sections are some of the best done, with vivid descriptions of London and attention to detail. For whatever reason, the English characters often appear more sympathetic and less like caricatures than most of the Americans. This is probably because the author doesn't portray them as omnipotent superheroes, (because, well, they're not American - duh!)

RC Bray's narration is excellent, (although I did need to slow it down to 0.80 on this recording!)

A follow up story would be good- a kind of '28 Weeks Later' but 'Arisen' style! In the meantime, I will be looking for something to fill the gap left in my 'zombie apocalypse' listening slots! The author, (and his co-author in the earlier books), has done a great job! Highly recommended!

Never cried at a Zombie book before amazing

These book’s made me laugh, made shudder made me think OMG and at the end at the epilogue made me shed a tear or two

If you want action, you want amazing characters, you want a zombie story of a sword wielding lady sniper who is seriously double hard read on, you may get frustrated but trust me it’s the best I have ever listened to

Hopefully the author may do a short story afterwards as to how the world grows

End of the road for an epic series

It's been a long road for the series but I'm glad to say the finale in the series was well worth the build up. Epic story of insane heroism and sacrifice, endless calamities and the eventual end of the ZA. Loved every moment of the series from the beginning. Well worth a re-listen once you're finished.

Quite simply a masterpiece from beginning to end

A masterful story delivered impeccably by a master narrator. Many thanks to the author for over a year of enjoyment from these books beginning to end.
