An action-packed novel of warfare, courage and camaraderie in the Roman Empire, from the Sunday Times-best-selling author.

Another great Simon Scarrow story.

Always like the Cato and Macro stories, be a shame not to have Macro in the future books. So we'll written and such a flowing story line. This is the first audio book in the series I have purchased and am pleased to have done so, the narration is perfect for it. Give it a shot.

If you’ve got this far in the series you know

It’s another classic story though a little predictable, I wonder if the Kato and macro story will now have a happy ending

Excellent

What a great book. It is both adventurous and filled with the terror of campaigns. As usual for Scarrow the book is very well written and informative - very much enhanced by a marvellous narrator. I love this Roman series but I would have to say I enjoyed this book the best.

Perfect book, perfect series

I can't recommend this series enough for people who live stories of Rome. it's violent, it's vulgar and it's perfectly written.

Captivating and traitorous

Twists and turns all over the place. Very enjoyable. Very well narrated.
The author is widening his story lines.

Excellence continues

Another great episode in the saga and being on Audible, kept me entertained in the car to and from work. Brilliantly read as usual by Mr Keeble.

"Choose wisely, my brothers."

Book 18 of the ongoing adventures of the Roman soldiers and friends, Cato and Macro.

When Cato is ordered to undertake what looks be a suicidal diplomatic mission in the heart of Parthia. Macro insisted he was needed to watch Cato's back, despite the old centurion having only just become a married man. And this was an especially tough time for them facing not just hunger, the terrains and the enemy, but even their own men.

Another engrossing and exciting tale from the Roman Empire, well written with excellent characterisation and, as always, an outstanding performance by Jonathan Keeble. Another must read for anyone enjoying Roman military stories.
