Summary

From the bestselling author of the Eagles of the Empire novels comes the epic story of Caratacus: a barbarian who united tribes to raise an army against mighty Rome...

The Romans invaded Britannia in AD 43 confident of victory. They swept through a divided and ill-equipped enemy, scattered across tough terrain. But one man was not prepared to surrender. Caratacus - quick-witted youngest son of a a tribal king - had been trained from birth to be a warrior of power and grit. Sent to be schooled by the Druids in his boyhood, his training meant that an already strong and cunning prince returned to his father's kingdom as a war machine...

With Caratacus driving them forward, the tribes prepare to repulse an enemy anticipating an easy victory. Fighting not only to stay alive but for their very way of life, these men form a mighty force. The battle is on!

The brand new series from the Sunday Times bestselling authors of Invader and Pirata: Warrior, the story of Britannia's barbarian warlord Caratacus.

Nice alternate view!

One of my favourite narrators ensured that this Scarrow work is well paced and acted - the story itself was one that I couldn’t wait to continue on with and now I’ve reached the end of the book I cannot wait to hear the next instalment. Well constructed story and well built characters make you want to know what transpires and how.

Many years ago I started on the Cato & Marco books but audible didn’t have the rights for beyond book three having listened to this I plan to go back to that series and work my way through all 22 books - I hope that Scarrow will have released vol 2 of warrior by then 😊

Excellent performance. Thank you

Love the telling of Britain divided into tribes before Rome invaded. Really educational as well as a rollicking good story.

Gripping glimpse into an intriguing period

I screamed an expletive when the book finally ended as had been gripped for days. Pre Roman Britain is a period you kind of know about, but this adds real colour, and from Scarrows other works I am guessing this is based on a lot of historical research. The story, knitted between threads in Rome and Britannia, is very well done and the character and accounts of Caratacus are all consuming. Keeble is always cracking.

Scarrow at his best,

I have read all the eagles books and have each further installment on pre-order, this book is at the same level of action and story telling and as usual brilliantly narratedby Jonathan Keeble,

Cato and Macro

Wish this had come before Eagles series. The narrator is so much ingrained in that series also the way story unfolds. However stand alone was very good listen and narration excellent looking forward to hopefully book 2.
