Summary

In this brilliant and original audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell explains and analyses the 'tipping point', that magic moment when ideas, trends and social behaviour cross a threshold, tip and spread like wildfire. Taking a look behind the surface of many familiar occurrences in our everyday world, Gladwell explains the fascinating social dynamics that cause rapid change.

Critic reviews

"A wonderful page-turner about a fascinating idea that should affect the way every thinking person thinks about the world around him." (Michael Lewis)

"Hip and hopeful, The Tipping Point is like the idea it describes: concise, elegant but packed with social power. A book for anyone who cares about how society works and how we can make it better." (George Stephanopoulos)

Good read with life lessons

Marketing, sales or simply for life, this book is a good guide in the art of persuasion.

A stimulating read

Although now dated in parts, nonetheless fascinating insights into how little things matter in terms of creating change.

Has this book aged well?

Loved this book about how social trends are powered. Written just before the internet really became ubiquitous so not sure if it needs to be revised in this light. Really well written and very compelling. Wanted to read more from him. Minor point, I have gathered that there are now other interpretations about Zimbardo's Prison guard work that question its reliability of its methodology.

So Good You’ll Want To Read It Again & Again

Gladwell’s views and descriptions of societal epidemics draw you in and make you view the World through a very different lens. I am of average intelligence and needed to re-visit some of the content in order to appreciate and understand the points being made, but I did with interest and intrigue. I am sure I will also come back to this publication again and again.

Lost me quite often

Some interesting pieces of research explained but also many chapters dedicated to relatively boring (my personal opinion) ‘tipping points’. Had to struggle through these to finish the book

Kind of disappointing

Listened to this after Outliers which I loved, and sorry to say I’m quite disappointed with this one.

The music in the audiobook is super corny and distracting. Some points are interesting, but a lot of them barely segway as nicely as the points did for Outliers. Things feel a lot more disjointed and less compactly insightful here.

I’m half way through and felt like I learnt so much more in outliers half way than I did here
