Summary

One life changing moment of madness…

Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell

It was supposed to be a fresh start. A move to a new town for me and my family.
I’d been offered the perfect position, teaching English at the local high school but then I met sixth form student Nicky Stevens.
Initially flattered by his attention, I let my guard down.
But I had no idea of the monster I’d let into my life or just how far his obsession would go.
Nothing could prepare me for the devastating consequences caused by my one moment of weakness.

Interesting

I found this book long winded and the storyline repetitive. The ending wasn't expected with no conclusion to that Nicky had got away with it.

Well narrated story

When Izzy Cole relocates to Sussex, she could never have imagined that her bad choices would place her and her family in danger.

This was my first Gemma Rogers book, and despite the very good narration from Georgia Maguire, this only gets 3 stars from me.

This comes down to not finding Izzy a very likeable character and the storyline inplausible. I listened to the story via audible, and there were so many times that I found myself muttering at the stupidty of Izzy's choices, or rather immature thought processes, which were very frustrating to listen to.

However, the author has a nice style of writing, and the narrator was very good so it wasn't a hardship to finish the novel.

Gripping

A pleasant surprise. The story had me hooked to the end.

Ok, the main character’s stomach growls a lot and she spends a lot of time cleaning her teeth and perusing the Sunday papers. David, her husband, is a tool. But apart from that, it was excellent. Great fun and captivating read.

Annoying main character

Compulsive reading, albeit with a very annoying story line around the main character.
In terms of performance, I found the voices of Nick and David incredibly similar.
I won’t say more in case you decide to read the book!

A cheap story about affair

The story is like a tabloid magazine. I cannot get the ending part. It is one-sided rhetoric from a pedophile to explain her affair with a schoolboy. It makes me rethink how untold misunderstandings in marriage can destroy things. How can an underaged boy manipulate an adult easily?

Enjoyable but…

The protagonist is so stupid, written in the first person you get all of the flawed reasoning of this oh so stupid person, even to the choice of clothes and disregard of the danger of choices and reasoning.
That said it is a compelling read/listen but don’t expect any major reveals.
