Summary

You shared a secret with the wrong person.

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town.

Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing and her teenage daughter, Angel, is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind.

But then everything changes....

In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend?

The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found, and police appeal for witnesses - and share a picture of the same car....

When Janey tells Tanya she is going to the police, Tanya turns threatening. She’ll stop at nothing to defend Angel, even if her daughter is guilty. If Janey says anything, Tanya will make sure that her dark secret gets out. Janey faces an impossible choice. Stay quiet about what she saw that terrible day or speak up and destroy the family she has worked so hard to protect....

From million-copy best seller K.L. Slater comes this twisty and absolutely gripping roller-coaster ride of a listen. Fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will be totally hooked on Little Whispers.

Great twists at the end

Good book overall and well performed- sometimes though the hero ( Janey ) gets on your nerves with her dithering - but a good story with a number of twists that leave you guessing . Yes I would recommend

gripping and amazing.

This book was brilliantly written and very gripping and will stay with me for a very long time. The narrator was astounding and had you believe you yourself were taking on the characters in the story. A message to the writer, pick up your pen, and give us more please and most importantly stay with the same narrator.

enjoyable

I did enjoy this book although from time to time a tad unbelievable. However overall a good listen. I do love KL Slater's books and will continue to buy them. Well done both.

Long winded

One of those stories that take forever to unlock the main storyline reveal then boom it’s all over. Worth a read but 2 me the 2 storylines running alongside each other didn’t fit.

Love this author

But her characters are always a bit unbelievable. And it’s basically the same protagonist in every book with a different first name

A trial to get to the end

I’ve become a big fan of K L Slater through several great books, notably Husband and Wife, Blink, Safe with Me and Closer so I hate to criticise one of my favourite author’s hard work, but this one left me somewhat cold I’m afraid. The character and plot build dragged on and on and I nearly gave up a couple of times even three quarters of the way through and the conclusion was something of an anti-climax despite the excellent narrator Lucy. But there are plenty of rave reviews so make your own mind up!
