About this listen
Deep space holds secrets…
…and one astronomer for NASA has found a big one.
But it's not what she thinks.
Dr. Melody Adams, a physicist at the Gemini North Observatory, was studying Pluto in the telescope data, and it struck her as odd. The numbers didn't make sense. Could there be an extraterrestrial object in our solar system?
She followed protocol.
The scientific community didn't believe her.
And before she knew what happened, her career was over.
The day that changed Melody's life was like any other over the previous two years. She'd found she had a gift for writing, and her career as an author had almost healed the pain of losing her job. When the Secret Service rang her bell, everything changed.
Something was nearing Saturn…
…and it was slowing down.
Had she been right about the object?
You'll love this hard science fiction novel because Melody is about to find out that everything she knew about space and time was wrong.

other worldly
Interesting, intelligent sci-fi. Leads you to unguessable scenarios. Well structured with interesting dialogue. really enjoyable.

Sponsored by Space X
The voice actor, as always is very good. The story is kept at pace. The addition of Musk as a 'rocket engineer' and the constant Space X plugs got on my nerves no end. It was a shame as the story is fairly good.

Classic Science Fiction Story – Just Slow
Slow-paced storyline on which I struggled to keep my attention, often ‘drifting off’ and having to rewind or just let myself catch up with the plot; although I did enjoy the last few chapters. I won’t say anything about the content of the final chapters to avoid any spoilers, but I think it’s a pity the author couldn’t make a bit more of this part of the story. The basic idea is great, classic sci-fi, it’s just, for me, it's so slow moving. The inclusion of Elon Musk and Space X didn’t help, very irritating and breaking the imagination of the story. As someone who enjoys science fiction, I may try it again at some point, if only to see if it’s one of those you enjoy more second time around – if I can overcome the Space X nonsense.

A must listen
Love the story as a part of it based on current technologies, and the interpretation and questions about reality.

probably the worst book ever written
I struggled through most of this nonsense, with it's yawn worthy story line it's wooden boring characters and implausible statements. then towards the end unbelievably it got worse, so bad in fact that I just stopped listening as I didn't care what happened in the end - terrible terrible terrible

Painful
What do you get when someone attempts to retell Arthur C. Clarke's "Rendezvous with Rama," adds a touch of the first Star Trek movie and stirs in a dash of Carl Sagan's "Contact"? You get Joshua Calvert's "The Object." Even with such promising ingredients he managed to produce something akin to a stodgy rice pudding that still lays heavy in my stomach. Certainly an author I'll not be revisiting.
