Really enjoyed the story

It took me a little while to get used to the main character but I ended up really loving him, and how he reacts to all the weird and creepy things that happen around him

This story definetly has one of the most interesting worlds I've read, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it in book 2

Slow start but worth it

As the title says. The story started slowly and I nearly gave up, but I'm sure glad I didn't as I really enjoyed the story of kellen and the nexus games as it got going. I'm looking fowrad to the Void Knight and the continuation of the Nexus Games.

A fun new adventure

I’ve been following the author primarily through the Frith chronicles which has got to being among one of the best fantasy series I have read in a while. This is a completely new and unrelated work in a while other universe and is definitely a bit more adult focussed though still accessible. I’m not going to lie it did take me a while to get into the world, it’s very distinct and has been built well with an interesting cast of characters, I particularly liked the dungeon crawler style of the missions and the multiverse concept it almost felt like a D&D adventure with the way parts were structured.

Overall, it was a fun listen and Dan Calley does an admirable job with the narration however my main gripe would be that apart from Kellen the other characters, especially the villains, felt a little underdeveloped especially in comparison to the Firth chronicles, now part of this is probably intentional since this is the first book in a series and there’s still quite a lot of mysteries to uncover in the future but it definitely feels like a book setting up the rest of the story rather than a complete volume in itself. Still I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely recommend it if you want a more maturish sci-fi/fantasy blend with a bit of D&D thrown in for good measure
