About this listen
Your secrets. Her lies.
Cassie stares at the woman on her doorstep in disbelief. Just months after losing her only son, Josh, here stands a stranger claiming to be Josh’s girlfriend. But it’s not only the woman Cassie is shocked by, it’s the baby nestled in Kim’s arms. Cassie’s grandchild.
I know what you did.
As Cassie tries to do what’s best for baby Samuel, she starts to receive threatening messages from someone from her past - someone Cassie has been hiding from for a long time. Cassie is frightened that her biggest secret is about to be revealed and she will lose everything, including her precious grandson.
You took everything from me. Now you need to pay.
As the messages get more sinister, Cassie realizes the person behind them knows every detail about her life and she fears that she is being watched. Could Kim be the link between Cassie and the mysterious messenger? And is she in danger now that she has welcomed this woman and her baby into her home?
A truly gripping pause resister that will keep you listening well into the night, The New Girlfriend is for fans of The Girl on the Train, My Lovely Wife, and Gone Girl.

A very slow start
I found the first 20 chapters really slow and boring, with everyone being sooo considerate of each others feelings ...and nothing happens. So I skipped ahead to chapter 30 and then the story becomes more interesting. But I definitely dont rate it 5star, just a good 3star.

Lovely Gripping Story
I'm a huge fan of Sheryl Browne I have to admit. I was a fan before she turned to thriller and it took me a while to adjust, but she's a real good story teller. This book didn't disappoint at all, the characters were all so real and well presented and the story had a lot of twists that I didn't work out, as well as some that I did.
The narrator sounded like a girl that lived down the road, but being a Brummie I guess I could relate a bit more. She's a bit like me, I can speak normally but love to indulge my accent when I can. Katie helps to bring the characters to life.
I expected it to get a little darker than it did. Sheryl knows how to do dark and dangerous. But, even though it was a bit tense at times, the real darkness was much more subtle.
I think this is one of my favourite books so far, but I'm just about to purchase Sheryl's new book so we'll see.
If you like a thriller which is hard to put down, with characters that pop out with such different personalities. Then you'll enjoy this book.
As I said, I am a Sheryl Browne fan, but I've not been asked to write about this book and I bought it myself.

Average Read
If you are looking for something that’s an easy listen with a few plot twists, this will fit. An average storyline altho too predictable at times, but Ok..
