Summary

I’ll do anything to protect my daughter....

When I pick my beloved daughter Poppy up from school one afternoon, my mind races when I see the little girl holding Poppy’s hand. With the same heart-shaped face, long brown hair, and dark eyes, the two girls look identical. In fact, they look like sisters.

Is the secret I’ve been holding on to for so long about to be revealed?

That night, I cuddle Poppy even harder, desperately trying to decide what to do. And then my husband’s phone vibrates. A message. And then another. And another. All from a number I don’t recognize.

Is someone going to tell my husband what I did? Could I be about to lose everything I have worked so hard to protect?

But I’ve spent so long hiding the truth, I never stopped to wonder if I was the only liar in the family.... The only thing I’m sure of is that nobody is going to take my child away from me.

If you can’t get enough of addictive psychological thrillers like Gone Girl, The Wife Between Us, and The Marriage, you’ll love The Liar’s Child. With nail-biting suspense and an ending that will make your heart pound.

Great story line with twists and suspense.

I loved this story and the narrater brought it to life in more ways than one. Although I thought I knew how it was going to end, I was surprised and did not guess right. Highly recommend.

a little disappointing

I found the storyline a little tedious in parts and quite predictable in others so not really my favourite by Sheryl Browne. I felt it lacked the usual 'oh my, can't wait to see what happens' of her other books. the narration was good though.

Repetitive but not a bad story

Don’t usually bother with reviews but this one irritated me somewhat so had to say something! The story isn’t too bad if a little predictable but my word the author has an annoying tendency to over use some physical actions! The repetition of people eyeing each other warily, touching their faces/raking hands through hair/pinching the bridge of their noses started to drive me nuts! Narrator is good though. perhaps I’m just getting fussy in my old age but the repetition put me off any other titles from this author, for now at least.

Couldn't Wait For It To End

Very disappointed with this book. I enjoyed it initially and was very intrigued to where it was going until about half way through. Every chapter started to become the same thing, a cycle of the 2 main characters being suspicious of on another and communicating unrealistically poorly. The overall story was ridiculously far fetched and the ending was randomly over dramatic. Didn't want to stop before finding out the ending but it became a chore to listen to and I genuinely couldn't wait for it to end. The only saving grace is the narrator was very good.

A little grating

The story was ok and certainly had twists and turns but some of those seems to be based on the stupidity of the characters. I found myself shouting at them when the refused to seemingly join the obvious dots and not seeing what was string them in the face which was was pretty annoying.
Overall could have been a lot better
Liked the narrator though.
Definitely too drawn out. Better initial editing required

Too much medical jargon

Could have been a good story, but there was far too much detailed, in depth, medical jargon and in depth procedures, some of which really had no bearing on the story, the rest could have just been simplified., the storyline was quite detailed anyway and needed concentration which I kept loosing with all the medical info, had to keep going back to remind myself of the actual storyline and keep following it.

Probably great if you are in the medical profession, not so if not.

Argh so frustrating

I felt like 3/4 of the book was the main female character contemplating "what if...", "should I'... etc etc it just went on & on & on. Then finally when all the "what ifs" are finished, the story is over?! I don't recommend it at all, the author has other better books to read.

Started well but repetitive and ending unclear

I really quiet enjoyed the first half but then it got frustrating with two adults going round and round the same issues Just finish your sentence. If you have an opinion and a clear motive then tell your spouse and if you know your spouse thinks A and A is wrong then tell them clearly they've miss understood ask why they think it *Sigh*

I'm also still not sure at the end; how what happened happend; or who was or wasn't telling lies but I'm not ready to rewind and listen to the end again yet to try find out but I will at some point.

I'll likley give the authors work another shot as I did enjoy the plot but the story and characters dragged out and the twists too much.
