Summary

When Gina Temple decides to go Christmas shopping for her girlfriend, Detective Sergeant Kate Brannon, in the Norfolk town of King's Lynn, it seems like an easy enough task.

If only life were that simple.

A split-second event, months in the planning, tips their safe world upside down.

In this twisting lesbian thriller, Kate's subsequent investigation leads her down the rabbit hole, where innocent people are targets, and has repercussions that will reverberate for a long, long time.

Meanwhile, as the two women grow closer, things get even more complicated. Life seems determined to throw obstacles in their path.

Will things ever feel normal again?

Contains mature themes.

Some unanswered questions

I continued to enjoy this series with the continued story threads and new crimes. This was particularly dramatic and tragic. There were some unfinished story lines such as who is send the messages to Gina which I hope means another story is coming but it doesn’t seem so at the moment.

3rd part of excellent series

This is the 3rd part of an excellent series. I recommend you begin at the beginning with Collido-O-Scope then Under Parr. There are themes plotlines and romance that run through all three.

It's crime thriller romance set on Norfolk's evocative coastline where sea and land are constantly shifting. Characters are well developed and there are passages of excellent descriptive narrative including really intense scenes. These really do grab you and put you there so well done Andrea and her cast of characters.

There is a touch of lottery level improbability in one of the sub plot lines but this is a minor grinch.

Where's the fourth in the series?

Third in a row.

I read the first one in this series a while ago and decided to buy the cut price audio version. So glad I did. It really is very good. I have all three in the series on audible and have enjoyed them all thoroughly. Very much hope there’s a 4th on the way.

Excellent narration too.

she's done it again

gripped. andrea has me looking for the next book as soon as this one finished and left me on a cliffhanger. this is the best book out the trilogy. as Kate and Gina develop their relationship I'm not sure how much drama can happen in one relationship especially in a small town but it happened here. so much happening and so many characters but it all ties together nicely. I did get the Alison hint tho and guessed this connection straight away.

Rating marked down because of narrator

Enjoyed the Norfolk series so far but disappointed that, although this #3 in the series was published in 2017 and ends on a cliffhanger with a stalker, there's no book #4 on the horizon by 2022. I get, sadly, that narrow minded Americans don't buy, read, listen to 'British' books, or don't give good reviews because they are 'British', but you have a loyal British readership Ms Bramhall and can't do that to us!

BTW If ever you write that 4th Norfolk series book MS Bramhall, and put it out as an audiobook, please don't use this narrator. The non stop melodramatic voice she adopts and her plummy, received English, pronunciation are a right turn off.
