Summary

Two women. Two worlds. One love worth risking it all.

When professional soccer player Alex Grey goes on a vacation to the local South Carolina islands, she isn't anticipating any life-changing events. Just a relaxing weekend to prepare for the upcoming season. But that quickly changes when she finds herself the lone witness to a sailing accident and makes the decision to risk her own life to save a drowning woman—unwittingly coming to the rescue of a US senator's wife, Catharine Cleveland.

Despite the vast disparity between their worlds, the two women find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another after the near-catastrophic afternoon. Following a series of interactions from the soccer fields of Portland, to the Marina District of San Francisco Bay, and the cutthroat political circle of Washington, D.C., they find their friendship growing, transforming into an attraction neither woman can deny.

Nor an attraction either woman can comfortably embrace.

As the magnetism of their connection grows, both women are forced to decide if the pursuit of love is worth the cost while living under the scrutiny of the public eye.

The Senator's Wife is Book One of a three book series.

Great listen.

The bristish accent of Catherine in this book is positively exquisite one may say 😅

This has to been my favourite book that I've listened to in awhile! I hated the two main male characters in the story and I can't wait for them to have their comeuppance.

Lesbian themed.
There was a small segment of volience towards women in this book.

Abby Craden is an amazing voice actor as always. Jen Lyon 10/10 Book.

hilarious accents

I usually enjoy Abby Craven's narration but.... this is a fairly good story although quite slow, but what really made it stand out was her attempts at an "Australian" accent, which over the course of the book morphed more into South African, and the "Scottish" accent which was just unrecognisable. Her "posh English" accent was also not the best but bearable. Still, I enjoyed a good laugh!

the narrator

The story could have ended with more details as it felt it had quite an abrupt ending. There could have been more romantic scenes.

A must listen

I can't say anything bad about this first book, it is turely amazing.

I couldn't put it down and finished it in a weekend. Once finished I found out it was a series, book two couldn't come out fast enough.

I can't recommend this book enough.

AMAZING.

This storyline is brilliant and captivating and frightening, all merged together in this rollercoaster ride. The beautiful romance that melts my heart to the controlling manipulative violent men, this is such an emotional journey.
Abby Craden is outstanding in her performance, a pure joy to listen to. 🎶

hooked from start

this story had me hooked from the beginning. I felt drawn in and found it hard to stop listening, just wanted to keep going. Abby Craden brought the characters to life making you laugh and cry all at the same time, and Catherine's voice oh my god!,I could listen to her all day. you must read this and the others in the series. I've listened to all three book twice and I'll be sure to come back to them again.

6☆ literature

First rate writing, wonderful story.
how can parents treat thier children like Catherines '. my pure anger at her husband, not for the faint hearted domestic abuse seen it too closely.

captivating

Abbey craden, . please stop trying to do Scottish accents. this isn't dad's army. that being said, the rest of the narration is like listening to a movie unfold, and brings back some of the passion Abbey seemed to have lost in the past.
the story itself is imaginative. at times a lesbian cliche . but overall excellent. miss lyon has a way with words. sometimes an unnecessary over explanation in repeating events in both view points, seems long winded.

but, this is by far well above the bar set by other authors I've read lately
the slow build is more believable than 'eyes meet, and suddenly soulmates' which seem to be the latest romcom books out.
this gives an honest, will they won't they. looking at the harsh reality of attraction and what the consequences could be.
it shows the fear of wanting someone, and the absolutely horrid feeling of suddenly realising you do.

for any one who's had that feeling. this books for you.

Captivating

Having read the book I was thrilled when the audio was released, excited to hear the brilliant story brought to life. I was not disappointed.

The story is wonderfully engaging, the plot leading the listener through a brilliant tale that has you guessing where things are going next,

The characters instantly become insanely vivid. Their voices matching the ones I had in mind when reading it. Abby’s narration brought the written words to life in fantastic technicolour. Catharine’s voice is like liquid gold! I’m a fan of Abby’s work anyway, you add this to a Jen Lyon book and you have perfection!

I couldn’t stop listening. Simply put, if you want an enigmatic tale with the perfect amount of angst and a narration that enfolds you like a warm hug on a cold day, this is a must listen. Bring on book two… and three!
