Detective Jo Shaw has it all worked out. She’s good at her job, she has loads of mates, and she likes being single. She doesn’t need complications, but an emergency call to the stabbing of a young woman brings plenty of those. Jo has to risk her career to save the woman’s life, and a bad night gets worse when the trauma surgeon turns out to be Isla Munro, Jo’s only real love, who walked out on her 15 years ago and never came back.
With the victim’s children missing and the husband the prime suspect, Jo’s investigation is stonewalled by a community living in fear. As one dead end leads to another, she and Isla are forced to put their differences aside and work together. But the case is far more dangerous than Jo realizes, and her determination to sort the truth from the lies may put her own life on the line.

Superb as always
If you’re ever in need of an exceptional crime story just buy an audiobook written by Cari Hunter and narrated by Nicola Victoria Vincent you will never go wrong!!!
I simply loved this book (as well as Cari Hunters other audiobooks) it’s well written, it has an amazing storyline and the main characters are always wonderful people.
I can highly recommend this book!!
Looking forward to the next books in this series!!!

what a Combination
To have Cari writing the story and Nicky bringing the characters to life you are on to a firm winner.
what happens when two characters meet up after 15 years working on the same case. Jo from the North and isla from Scotland and Jo's sidekick Sully. This story has plenty of humour, sweets and a very good plot line. you've got to read it I've listened to it 4 times already.

love the accents in the narration
Well paced story with a good inside procedural look. Northern and Scottish accent narration adds ro the colour and the rainbow shines through

💖I LOVED THIS💖
This is a fantastic rollercoaster story that had me on the edge of my seat. It was exciting and enthralling and showed how gangs in the UK can influence society's most vulnerable. Nicola Victoria Vincent was exceptional in her performance and brought together the characters struggles expertly and made them live!
A remarkable listen. ❤

What with believable and likeable characters, realistic medical and police drama and excellent storylines this made for another gripping and entertaining novel by Cari Hunter. I’m already looking forward to the next.

Loved it.
Another great story from CH. narrated with her usual style by NVV.
I've waited what seems like ages for another medic/police story and was not disappointed.
I shall be on the lookout for more in this genre from CH.
