About this listen
The only man who can keep her safe is her boss’ gorgeous brother.
Museum curator Haven McKinney has sworn off men. All of them. Totally. She’s recently escaped a bad ex and started a new life for herself in San Francisco. She loves her job at the Hutton Museum, likes her new boss, and has made best friends with his feisty sister. Haven’s also desperately trying not to notice their brother: hotshot investigator Rhys Norcross. And she’s really trying not to notice his muscular body, sexy tattoos, and charming smile.
Nope, Rhys is off limits. But then Haven finds herself in the middle of a deadly situation....
Investigator Rhys Norcross is good at finding his targets. After leaving an elite military team, he thrives on his job at his brother’s security firm, Norcross Security. He’s had his eye on smart, sexy Haven for a while, but the pretty curator with her eyes full of secrets is proving far harder to chase down than he anticipated.
Luckily, Rhys never, ever gives up.
When thieves target the museum and steal a multi-million-dollar painting in a daring theft, Haven finds herself right in the middle of a deadly situation. With the painting gone and Haven in danger, Rhys vows to do whatever it takes to keep her safe, and Haven finds herself risking the one thing she was trying so hard to protect — her heart.
Note to listeners: This is a sexy, fast-paced romance with a heroine in danger who’s sworn off men (and gets kidnapped…a lot) and a hot, tattooed former military hero (who looks fine in a suit and rolls his sleeves up showing off his ink).

Absolutely brilliant
This book was exactly what I needed. The leading lady is hilarious. The characters are fantastic, they have great personalities, I definitely want more from these. With an exceptional performance from both Stella and Teddy.

more Norcross please
new author for me.
Really enjoyed the book - a good mix of action and romance. Haven seems to find herself in the middle of a lot of situations so if damsel in distress is your thing you will love it. Loved Rhys.
Talk about the teaser for the next book! Looking forward to more from the series and author.
I love Teddy Hamilton but I don't enjoy Stella Bloom - she always sounds ditzy and I don't like her voice inflections.

Loved this!
The dual narration was perfect for this story. With non stop action and suspense from start to finish this romantic thriller had me glued! I liked the main characters and I totally loved the whole Norcross setup. I cant wait to listen to more especially Gia's story in the next book!

Love this new series!!
I love any new series by Anna Hackett and this is a great start to a new series. We first got a sense of the Norcross team in the Team 52 series (so good, read those too!) and the team is really awesome. I loved the characters, Rhys and Haven as well as Rhy's brothers and sister. They were really cool overall and I'm excited to read Gia's story (the Norcross sister)- she seems really tough.
I have to say that Haven had some really great parts and I loved to see her coming to her own towards the end but I did think that she was a weaker heroine than some of Anna Hackett's other heroines (I'm spoiled because Anna Hackett writes the best heroines- tough and smart).
Overall though, I can't wait to continue to get more entrenched in this world!
i first read the ebook and then listened to the audiobook. Teddy Hamilton is perfect for the Norcross men. (of course, he is one of my favorite narrators so well, I love most things he's in). His ability to modulate his voice and his tough slightly gravelly voice is really just great for this series. Stella Bloom is also amazing- She also is able to play many characters easily and I really loved the narration for this great start to the series.

Anna does it again.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the first book in Anna's steamy new series with outstanding narration by Teddy and Stella.
They have done an excellent job getting under the skin of the men and women of Norcross Security.
The action is fast paced and the men hot enough to melt a Kindle. I look forward to listening to the next book and learning what Anna has in store for her heroes.
Well done Anna you have proved yet again why you are one of my favourite authors. Keep up the good work.

A refreshing suspense
It's so nice to have a heroine with a back bone!
This is a fast paced book, that keeps on track throughout. Both main and secondary characters were well built and described. I look forward to hearing more of this series!
I enjoyed the narration, however, Stella's narration was a little breathy and once I heard it, I couldn't unhear it 🤷🏼♀️

Meet the Norcross family!
With romantic suspense being my favorite of all romance genres, this book pushed all the right buttons for me. My first Anna Hackett book, I was pulled into the Norcross family and had to listen to find out what was going to happen next. Haven's life is slowly falling into place. New job, no men, she is happy being a museum curator until one of the most beautiful and expensive paintings is stolen on her watch. Blaming herself, she is distraught, and to top it off, Rhys Norcross, her boss's brother is heading the investigation. Sticking to her "sworn off men" regime is going to be hard with this alpha male who definitely has an attraction to her. Will she be able to resist the charms? More importantly, will she be safe? Will they find the painting? High suspense, a fantastic family building story and an off the charts chemistry that keeps the earbud glued to your ears, this story is amazing. I was caught up in the action, loved Haven's never ending determination to find the painting and the over protectiveness of Rhys. I can't wait to see what Hackett has in store for the other Norcross siblings!
Not only is the story fantastic, but Hackett has a cast the best narrators to bring the story to life. Stella Bloom becomes Haven. She is sassy, yet reserved and has a stubborn streak that Bloom pulls out of her with a voice perfect for Haven's personality. Team her with Teddy Hamilton as Rhys, the alpha, determined, charismatic, protector and the performance is gold.

Damn it was entertaining!
It wasn’t the book of the year, but damn it was entertaining! Especially as an audiobook, as both narrators are extremely talented and bring life to the characters. I loved it.
The suspense part of the story was gripping, with multiple twists and turns. I’d have liked to see more about the investigation–since it’s in the title–but I was never bored. There’s a lot of action and, for once, it doesn’t come only from the male characters.
Haven, even as a typical damsel in distress, isn’t weak. She has a tremendous amount of courage–she’s scared but still tries to save other people, by any way she can. That makes the little reverse power play with alpha male Rhys Norcross even sexier.
Here we have a regular instalove story. The connection between Haven and Rhys is mostly depicted through the characters’ feelings. I didn’t see it. But when they actually do the deed, oh my, what a chemistry! It’s extra swoony and steamy.
As the first book in the series, there may have been a bit too much time dedicated to the introduction of future characters who don’t have much to do here. And I’d have liked for Haven’s relationship with Haven to be a bit more explicit–I didn’t really see a strong bond between two alleged best friends. But I still can’t wait to read or to listen to about the rest of the Norcross family.
