Summary

Run. Hide. Don’t look back.

Evie Scott went through hell and barely escaped. Now, she does everything she can to remain invisible. To survive. Because if she’s found, she’s dead.

Then she meets Luca…and there’s a spark. But is he worth the risk?

Former Navy SEAL Luca Kirwin is both well-trained and deadly. Recruited into a non-sanctioned government project, he was unknowingly turned into a weapon. Now, he and his team have one mission—shut down the program.

When a new neighbor with haunted eyes moves in next door, his instincts tell Luca he can trust her. But could she be one of the enemies he’s searching for?

As the couple falls deeper, and the danger gets closer, they’ll have to learn to trust in each other…before it’s too late.

A brilliant start to the series

Nyssa Kathryn is one of my go-to authors, and to have the opportunity to listen to her books was certainly not to be missed. This is a brilliant performance of a great story. The plot is exciting with roller coaster twists and turns that ensure you keep listening. Luca and Evie are a totally believable and likeable couple, and sharing the development of their relationship is a delight. I knew I would enjoy the content, but listening to the story is different again, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really enjoyed this performance, the dual narration was excellent and well crafted. I sometimes find (being English) American accents hard to listen to, however, this was definitely not the case. In all, a fabulous performance of a wonderful book. I recommend this unreservedly and will be listening to the next in the series.

Great Start to the Series!

This was my first Nyssa Kathryn's book, and definitely won't be my last. This is the first book in the Project Arma Series. This is a great start to the series. Luca and Evie's slow burn romance is breathtakingly well written, and entertaining. Luca, a former Navy SEAL, is handsome, protective, and protective. Evie, a survivor, is strong, smart, and brave. I liked the mystery, the secrets, the suspense, and the twists and turns. The world building is interesting, and captivating. The supporting characters are intriguing. I liked the brotherhood in the story. Ramona Masters and Gideon Frost did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Eden, the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Blue Nose Audio and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fantastic start to this series!

Military romantic suspense! Now this is for me! This is my first Nyssa Kathryn book and I am hooked. Evie is on the run. Always looking over her shoulder for her abusive ex, she is exhausted but cautious. Luca, her next door neighbor has taken an interest in her, but she does nothing to encourage him. Then one night she screams during a nightmare, sure she has seen her ex in her house, and now all bets are off with this couple. But can Luca, a retired marine on a special assignment with his friends trust Evie? Or is she a plant? Little do they all know how it's all interconnected. Nyssa Kathryn has woven a plot of intrigue and suspense as a secret experiment is unearthed. This book is romantic at times, has a lot of suspense and danger filled excitement and that protective alpha feel, not only from Luca, but his teammates too. This is the start of a fantastic series, and I cannot wait for more.

Ramona Master and Gideon Frost are our story tellers and they bring this gem alive. Each character, a perfect fitting voice, from fear, to frustration, to love, every facet of their emotions is felt. Master becomes Evie, a frightened, yet strong woman and I love to hear the changes in her voice as she comes out of her shell. Frost has a smooth, calming feel to his voice, that is soothing for Evie, but he turns it up a notch to become the alpha protector. A fantastic casting for this story and gave me hours of enjoyment. Blue Nose Audio did a fantastic job with this production!

Fab start

I love this book and find the story engaging, the world building intriguing and the characters relatable.

The danger and drama of the story are portrayed well in the audio version of this and it’s a dual narration which is my favourite style also.

The narrators do a great job in bringing the theatrics and drama of the story out, but I did feel at times there were a few laboured pauses and I had a feeling of being read to rather than being immersed in a story.

I did enjoy this audiobook regardless though, the story is amazing and the narration does a great job in bringing it to life

Luca

This is the first book in the Project Arma series. This is a very interesting series. Luca and his men are former Navy SEALs. They were being tested and injected with experimental enhancement drugs unknowingly. They left once they found out about the experiments. Evil is running from her past. She was with her ex for 7 years. As time went on he changed and became abusive. She was trying to find out what could have made him change. I can’t wait for the next book. Ramona Master and Gideon Frost did a fantastic job narrating this book!

A Thrilling Romantic Suspense! Fantastic Story & Listen🎧

This is my first book written by Nyssa Kathryn and wow, consider me impressed and I am looking forward to enjoying and experiencing more of her books. “Luca” is a fascinating and action packed romantic suspense with a side of paranormal elements, a band of former military who opened their own business, Marble Protection, that specializes in security and self defense. They are also on a mission to find those behind “Project Arma” and shut them down. Each book features a different member of the team and this book is Luca “Rocket” Kirwin’s story. This first book lays down the foundation for the series and it certainly is a great and exciting way to start. Evie Scott is on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend, she is afraid he will track her down so she moves around a lot. Moving into her new place, her neighbor comes to introduce himself, and she freezes up because he reminds her of her ex, Troy, same military look. Luca senses her fear and backs away, but there is something about her that draws him to her. She applies for a job not knowing it was his business, and she is ready to bail because she is not sure she could handle being around the self-defense classes, but she knew she needed the job. She was reluctant and skittish, but the more time she spent with Luca and the guys at work, she grew more comfortable with them, trusting but not enough to share her past. There was more to Evie besides being on the run, she is good with computers and she is trying to find out what caused Troy to get so violent, since he was not always like that with her. And when her past comes back to haunt her, and she learns there is a connection between Luca and Troy, the first thing she wants to do is run. There is so much to love about this book, the writing, the plotting, the layers and complexity of the story and characters, the originality and the world building, all are fantastic and I loved how it all played out. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for this amazing story and the wild ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Romana Master and Gideon Frost were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying and were believable in every role they played. Ramona Master nailed it is Evie, grasping every side of her personality, her vulnerabilities, determination and strength. Gideon Frost did the same for Luca, playing his role with perfection. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

enjoyed it, but narration speed frustrating

I enjoyed Luca and Evie’s story in this action filled book. Not a lot of complexity to the plot. I’m looking forward to more of the series.

Listened to the audiobook:
Narrators’ voices were great, but I couldn’t get an enjoyable listening speed. Narration painfully slow. The pauses, in particular between sentences, were way too long. I ended up listening at 2.2 speed which moved the story along, but the narrators didn’t sound great at this speed. A frustrating listen.
