Summary

One former Navy SEAL. One dedicated archeologist. One secret map to a fabulous lost oasis.

Finding undiscovered treasures is always daring, dangerous, and deadly. Perfect for the men of Treasure Hunter Security. Former Navy SEAL Declan Ward is haunted by the demons of his past and throws everything he has into his security business - Treasure Hunter Security. Dangerous archeological digs - no problem. Daring expeditions - sure thing. Museum security for invaluable exhibits - easy. But on a simple dig in the Egyptian desert, he collides with a stubborn, smart archeologist, Dr. Layne Rush, and together they get swept into a deadly treasure hunt for a mythical lost oasis. When an evil from his past reappears, Declan vows to do anything to protect Layne.

Dr. Layne Rush is dedicated to building a successful career - a promise to the parents she lost far too young. But when her dig is plagued by strange accidents, targeted by a lethal black market antiquities ring, and artifacts are stolen, she is forced to turn to Treasure Hunter Security, and to the tough, sexy, and too-used-to-giving-orders Declan. Soon her organized dig morphs into a wild treasure hunt across the desert dunes. Danger is hunting them every step of the way, and Layne and Declan must find a way to work together...to not only find the treasure but to survive.

Note to listeners: This action-adventure romance contains a lot of action (think treasure hunts and wild chases across the desert), cool offsiders (sexy former Navy SEALs), and a steamy romance (lots of sexy times between a former SEAL and a smart archeologist). This is treasure hunting Navy SEAL style. So if you like it fast, and fun, and sexy, this is for you!

Myths and legends come to life in this spellbindin

Undiscovered (Treasure Hunter Security Book 1)

Myths and legends come to life in this spellbinding, all action romance with serious sizzle and HEA. I absolutely loved it.

Wow! just Wow! This roller-coaster ride through the Egyptian desert has the two main characters fleeing for their lives, following clues across the ancient sands in search of safety and finding so much more. Places so ancient they've long since faded into myth and legend are brought spectacularly to life in this terrific, action packed and sizzling romantic fantasy adventure, the latest spellbinding masterpiece from Anna Hackett, one of my all-time favourite authors. Her terrific storytelling skills are on display front and centre in 'Undiscovered', the first book in Treasure Hunter Security, her fantastic new series set around myths, legends, modern technology, archaeology and treasure hunting, with a feisty heroine and an alpha hero, sizzling chemistry and love as she weaves the story of a legitimate dig in Egypt's Western Desert attacked by a ruthless black market antiquities ring that'll stop at nothing to get what they want, and what they want is something the archaeologists don't believe even existed and certainly haven't found... yet. Enter a team of ex-Navy SEALS, also known as Treasure Hunter Security, brought in by the Rhodes University to provide security for their now compromised dig, and let the magic begin...

Dr Layne Rush is the Archaeologist in charge of a legitimate dig being run by her university on a new tomb that's been discovered in Egypt's Western Desert, and she's excited with their progress so far. All is running smoothly, and they've found some interesting gold artefacts, but apart from speculation amongst members of the team about the location of the lost Oasis of Zerzura that was reputedly also in the Western Desert, there doesn't appear to be a lot that would interest the ruthless gang of thieves that attacked Layne when she was on her own, although they appeared to be looking for something specific. Under the circumstances, the dig has been declared unsafe and the team has been pulled back to Cairo. Hunting for information among the market vendors and antiquities dealers, Layne becomes distinctly aware of the sensation she's being watched and takes steps to catch the watcher... only it turns out to be Declan Ward, the new head of security for the dig, ex-Navy SEAL and co-owner of Treasure Hunter Security....

Declan Ward quit the navy and the SEALs after a particularly bad operation that still haunts him and left him with a bitter taste in his mouth, wondering what he was fighting for and more importantly, who he was fighting alongside. He started Treasure Hunter Security with his brother Callum after he also got out of the Teams, and their techno-geek sister Darcy, and they have a small but dangerous team of ex-SEALs working for them. The Wards all have a good grounding for their new enterprise with a History Professor father and a world renowned Treasure Hunter mother and they are the best there is at what they do, so it was a little embarrassing, to say the least, when the woman in charge of the dig got the drop on him and .... Oh boy!.....is he in trouble.

I'm not going to give spoilers, but Treasure Hunter Security is a bit different to the other series I've read by this author with their alien invasions and archaeologists in space. This series is set on Earth in the here and now, and 'Undiscovered' is a fantastic mix of archaeology and ancient myths come to life action adventure.... Think 'Jack Hunter', then add a large dash of 'The Mummy' (Rachel Weisz version), a goodly pinch of 'Relic Hunter', a fair bit of 'Adventure Inc' and just a drop of 'Sahara' for flavour, add a little 'Who Dares Wins' and 'Navy SEALS' into the mix in the form of site security and hunkalicious bodyguards for colour and heat, along with a mystery, some serious sizzle and clues to follow to find the ancient wonder and the treasure that's waiting to be discovered, add some seriously dangerous bad guys in the form of the murderous black market antiquities ring that goes by the name of 'Silk Road' and it's exactly my kind of dish. It had me totally hooked and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and I really didn't want to put it down.

I absolutely love Anna Hackett's books, they're always filled with high-octane action, adventure and sizzling romance. Always well written in the third person for people who like their stories with substance, their heroines strong and feisty, their heroes strong, hunky and protective, not to mention 'drop-dead' gorgeous and for me she's one of the best science fiction/fantasy romance authors around today. She creates fantastic environments, both on Earth and in outer space then populates them with terrific characters, good guys, bad guys and everything in between, contained in stories that are totally gripping edge of the seat thrillers, as well as funny and hot. Her stories are so good they'd hold my attention even without the sizzle, although I do love a good sizzle, and they always come complete with a happily ever after. 'Undiscovered' is another winner and I really can't wait to read the next one. There are no cliff-hangers here and all her books can be read as stand alones.

Adrenaline junkie that I am, I absolutely loved it. I'd like to give it lots more than the 5 stars I'm limited to, and it's definitely a book I'd rescue if the house was burning down. I'm sure I'll be reading it again and again and again and.... you get the picture.

The Audio

I got this terrific story as an ebook when it was first published, and was totally hooked. I've read it a few times since, but I now have intermittent problems with my eyes, so, despite being a bit dubious about it, I've turned to audio books to fill my need to re-read my favourites. I tried out audio books a few years ago, but was pretty quickly put off by the seriously bad, even dreadful, narration which turned my wonderful, gritty, action packed adventures with romance into wishy washy, girly girl romance with few of the thriller overtones that the majority of my books have. It was so awful that I gave up on them for years. Then, last year, when I was desperate, I listened to the audio for a book by Anna Hackett, one of my all-time favourite authors, discovered a whole new and tremendously good set of narrators and decided to give them a try. Brilliant! It seems that Ms Hackett gets significantly better narrators than some I've listened to and Stella Bloom, the narrator of this book is really very good, actually, one of the best I've listened to. She seems to understand the all action, gritty nature of both the characters and the story, maintaining the edginess to the very end and I wasn't disappointed in any way, so I got all the other books in the series that are available as audio versions to back up my kindle versions, just so I don't get withdrawal symptoms when I can't read them, and I freely admit I've listened to this one more than once since I got it. I find I listen a lot more than I read these days and the audio versions also have the added bonus of allowing me to do other things whilst listening. I was lucky enough to get a free code for this audio book, and as I had already posted an honest review of the ebook several years ago, I decided to update that review with my personal opinion of the audible narration, especially as I've been so disenchanted by audio books in the past.

Adventure Romance

So, I am not a big 'normal' romance fan, I prefer UF/PNR, this Author was recommended in one of my book clubs and I really liked the Eon series, so I tried this after reading the previous review referring to it as Indiana Jones romance.
It is! Its a great action/archaeology romance series I've now bought the others too, and I really like the characters, and the underlying story arc that spans all the books.
A very pleasant surprise!

An Indiana Jones Style Romance

I was looking for a light, fun read - specifically read by Stella Bloom as she is one of my favourite narrators - and found this. I enjoyed this brief, but entertaining romance. There are some obvious homages to Indiana Jones (but with a female protagonist). The historical aspects seem well researched (not that I would know) and well loved by the writer. It's pacey and romantic with enough action to feel robust rather than slight despite it's length. I will try another from this series.
