Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Gathering Dark by James Oswald, read by Ian Hanmore.

A truck driver loses control in central Edinburgh, ploughing into a crowded bus stop and spilling his vehicle's toxic load. The consequences are devastating.

DI Tony McLean witnesses the carnage. Taking control of the investigation, he soon realises there is much that is deeply amiss - and everyone involved seems to have something to hide.

But as McLean struggles to uncover who caused the tragedy, a second crisis develops: the new Chief Superintendent's son is missing, last seen in the area of the crash....

Brilliantly plotted and utterly compelling, this is the gripping new novel in the best-selling Inspector McLean series.

Darkness continues...

I think Tony could cut a break at this stage-good story and excellent narration, but a bit of happiness is long overdue....come on Mr Oswald!

More of Tony being a work-obsesssed dolt

Getting a bit tiresome really.
"McLean knew he should ring Emma... but he didn't. He'd make it up to her later"
That's the theme of the whole book really - forgetting to check up on her for the whole day when she's been rushed to hospital, neglecting to call when he really should, missing antenatal classes... Makes me want to punch him in the face, which is not what I want in a main character.

As usual, an intriguing plot

The plot was very good and kept me guessing until the very last moment. Always leap at the chance of a new Inspector McLean novel.

Yet another brilliantly written novel

This book gripped me from start to finish. James Oswald just goes from strength to strength! And the pairing of Ian Hanmore as narrator is perfect. A great listen

another good book.

Continuing the story of Tony Mclane as he fights to keep Edinburgh safe.

Tony witnesses a horrific accident as a tanker ploughed, out of control, into a crowd of people waiting for a bus. Thongs only get worse from there.
