About this listen
Contains books 1-3 of The Forgotten.
Forgotten, book 1
Sheriff Hayden Duke was born on the Pilgrim, and he expects to die on the Pilgrim, like his father, and his father before him. That's the way things are on a generation starship centuries from home. He's never questioned it. Never thought about it. And why bother? Access points to the ship's controls are sealed, the systems that guide her automated and out of reach. It isn't perfect, but he has all he needs to be content.
Until a malfunction forces his engineer wife to the edge of the habitable zone to inspect the damage. Until she contacts him, breathless and terrified, to tell him she found a body, and it doesn't belong to anyone on board. Until he arrives at the scene and discovers both his wife and the body are gone. The only clue? A bloody handprint beneath a hatch that hasn't opened in hundreds of years. Until now.
Forsaken, book 2
Sheriff Hayden Duke expects to die any second. He's already been attacked by demonic aliens, rogue soldiers, and even the people he thought were his friends.
They took his wife. He has to find her. He has to survive. Another second. Another breath. He can never give up. He can never rest until she's back in his arms. They'll try to stop him, but it won't be as easy as they think. A new hope is rising in an old world.
Unforgiven, book 3
Sheriff Hayden Duke has got a long way to go before he can rest. How can he when the entire world is under siege by demonic aliens and a brutal thug who calls himself King?
It's an unknown and powerful threat that may be responsible for the end of humankind. The road may be long. The odds may be bad. The stakes may be high. But you can’t keep a good Sheriff down.

Entertaining & new
I really didn’t expect much from this 3 book set but the story is different & adds it’s own flair, I wouldn’t say on the edge of your seat but the story certainly has you guessing and trying to put the pieces together. I will be buying the next book in the series as it’s hard to find books with calibre of storyline.

A great beginning to an extended series
What a tour de force!!? We have here a lone hero struggling to recover his wife after her kidnapping, only to find that there is a whole lot more to the issue that needs to be addressed if a decent life is to be had afterwards. There is much action, and the story romps along at a very good pace. It's well worth the listen, and this is just the introduction to a longer series that continues in the Forgotten Earth series. I found that I couldn't put it down. I'll be getting the following series as there is much to do to make matters right at the end of the trilogy. The only downsides, to my mind, were the occasional expletive, and the high body count of the hero's accomplices, some who leave you saddened as they deserved a better chance in a disfunctional world. I do commend the recording company's decision to issue this trilogy under a single cover - I find it a very attractive offer. (NB: I noticed that the author puts Proxima Centauri over 7 lightyears from Earth, when it is 4.3 ly away.)
Jonathan Davis's voice and acting/reading style suit these action-thriller stories. I first met him presenting some of the Star Wars books, and also the Destiny's Crucible series. As with these, so with this trilogy, Davis seems to get into the story, and it comes out the better for it.

Surprising mix of genres
A few plot elements that I found a bit weak but over all quite enjoyable with some interesting plot twists

Main Protagonist should be shot
I really want to like this story but the main Protagonist "Sheriff Hayden Duke" is god awful. He live in a dream world, he clams to want to save his people, but all his choices leads to slowly getting all his allies killed and sparing bad guys which allows them to go on and kill more helpless people. He keep trusting Bad guys to hold up to there word, but is shock when they double cross him which lead to an ally death. The books is fill with lost of action, but i wish that all Sheriff Hayden Duke allys were not turn into star trek red shirt guys.
