Summary
The best-selling military space opera: the complete series in one box set. We fought them for decades. And we won.
But victory has proven more destructive than defeat.
Years after defeating aliens bent on burning down the galaxy, the Interstellar Union is breaking apart, its member species undermining each other at every opportunity.
When an interdimensional distress signal arrives, only humanity is interested in helping.
Captain Vin Husher is given command of the UHS Relentless, and sent in as part of a carrier strike group...
...right into a trap laid by humanity’s old enemy.
Surrounded by a bioengineered super-species and unable to return home, Husher must draw on decades of experience just to keep his people alive.
If he can’t survive long enough to escape this hellish pocket universe and warn humanity of the impending danger, all will be lost.
And it might already be too late.

One Of My Favorite Sci-Fi Writers
I am a huge fan of Scott's work and have read much of his other material too. This is sci-fi which brings an intelligent edge to politics and feels like a boys' own adventure too. If you want an incredible story and value for money for a single credit, this should be your top pick this month.

A story with an expected outcome
The story keeps you interested and follow up with the characters that you clearly hope to make through the story. However it is clearly written by an US American military mindset and a lot of terms used from there.

every character is stupid.
while the narrator does his best, this book is garbage.
the physics is inconsistent and already established premises are brushed aside when the plot needs it.
the characters are plain dumb, nobody behaves like you would expect from the rank /position they are in.
the premise is so LASY. it reads like a 7 year old describing a bad star trek episode.
the antagonist is so poorly written it feels like a MCU movie.
*spoiler*
i gave up during the 2nd book, when a boarding party walks into a sealed room with nobody even stopping and thinking "ummm why is this the only sealed room?"

Good characters, confusing battles
I enjoyed all the characters and Mark was excellent as always, but the battles, technobabble and scale of everything was just confusing.
Maybe I’m spoiled by the Lost Fleet, but I expect consistency and logic from combat. For example sometimes a mech (without any real idea of its size, but presumably much more powerful than a marine) has trouble dispatching an alien monster. Next time a guy with a handgun kills two or three within seconds.
I have no concrete idea of size and capabilities of spaceships from small Pythons to large capital ships which makes battle damage reports pointless. It doesn’t help, that cruisers are somehow smaller than destroyers which means even common sense goes out of the window. Not to mention the alien craft, which vary wildly in capabilities and numbers from engagement to engagement.
It may sound like nitpicking, but it really kills the immersion and suspense for me and sometimes I had to force myself to listen to more.
