About this listen
Out of the blue, a young Space Fleet officer's dream becomes reality: He's made captain of a starship. Just in time for the return of humanity's most terrible enemy, after 50 years of peace.
To survive against this enemy, Captain Tad Thatcher will have to do more than learn how to become an effective commander, or how to wrangle his wayward crew. He will need to reinvent space combat. From scratch.
We hope you like space battles. Buckle up for Spacers, the military sci-fi series you've been waiting for. Download this six-book box set today.

A story that keeps you captured
The storyline is coherent and logical. There isn’t a character I could point to that is falling out of their pattern. A good bit of personal interaction that further explains why they are interacting the way they do. And even those characters that just pop up for a few moments in a single chapter, do not feel like a necessaty. Even they get introduced in a way you may think they become an important side character in the remaining books. Over all a great start into the whole future version of this that has been created.
Personally I caught myself several times to skip backwards as I realised I didn’t payed attention to the story and missed some key parts. Great for the trip from and to work, but do not see it as an book that you want to listen as a bit of background entertainment.

Worst ending ever
Not only did the actual ending of the story leave things in a position that rendered most of your 40 hours or so of listening pointless but it then went on to the most boring rendition of who’s who in the universe. Very disappointing!!!

Really brings the books to life
After reading all of the current books, I decided to listen to the audible version of the earlier books during morning commutes.
Tad takes on a whole new persona when the book is narrated compared to what I had pictured in my head when reading. the emphasis placed at certain points add immensely to the storyline and character development.
will be purchasing the rest of the Spacers books in audio as well as ebook from now on!!

I really enjoyed this sci-fi epic
I liked the build-up and delivery of the ongoing saga through the 6 books. Definitely worth a read.

Learn to pronounce Edinburgh.
As a Scottish reader hearing the narrator butcher Scottish city names is painful. Other than that a exceptional book.

Not bad
To keep it short and keep it bluntly, the story itself is not bad, but in the same time it's full of not really plausible parts. And the character called "Rose" is liability there. But the narrator was great. As always.

Good book, but with some issues
The stroty is good, with some issues.
I like it as it is not too heavy.
Galaxy Edge is heavy, dark, and deep.
This is a great middle ground, easy listen yet good story.
The first issue I see is, time travel. The storyline has some time travel involved. The story itself created a paradox, as two characters talking for an event that had occurred, battles out come, and story connected to it made no sense. The older character gives an account that can not happen due to how the battle ended. Unless it created an alternative universe. Poor handling.
The second issue. The combat is good. But travel times, commutation time, etc, are totally not realistic.
Imagine listening to space action taking place in a solar system, but it feels CQB.
Ships travel from the edge of a system to the 4th planet within 4 hours. In our solar system, this means spaceship travel speed is several times the speed of light. Commutation with in a combat area several times the distance between earth and moon is instantaneous.
A lot of the action is made realistic for ground fighting. Space combat not that much.
There are other issues. Like some tactics/thoughts that the main character should have thought about.
Some actions that make no sense from the UNC side.
But in general, I could accept those.
If you have seen Edge of Tomorrow you will find some similarities with the aliens and some of the characters including some of the technologies.
Ground combat was well layout and of good quality.

A Good Series!
I like a good series. Honor Harrington is a great space opera. Any thing by B.V. Larson is great comic book space opera. Them I recommend. This however I not going to/or not going to recommend. I found I was losing interest by book 5. I will simply say to each their own. I Will however recommend that IF you are interested that you can save 2 credits by getting the box set books 1-6. Then as I have Just done, box set books 7&8. Oh yes I am committed to finding out what happens in the end.
So Audible get books 9 & 10 on here Pronto. And yes there is also now, a prequel... LOL
