Summary
A dangerous serum. A deadly enemy. A suffocating secret.
I didn’t know it was possible to be in love with two people at the same time, until my past and present collided.
Jensen was unpredictable and compelling, until he shattered my heart when he was deployed.
Trent is loving and dependable, and I can easily envision a future in his arms.
I had no way to know the two were brothers. I fear I will be what tears them apart.
When Trent is deployed to Afghanistan to test a highly classified serum, I can’t shake the feeling of dread. My fears are quickly justified. An unknown enemy knows my dark secret and plans to use it against us.
I made a mistake once, and now it could destroy everyone I love.

Well done and gripping
I already enjoyed this author’s work in another genre, so I was curious about reading some romantic suspense by her. I was blown away.
Though a bit unrealistic–such a level of mind control is still an illusion–the mystery plot is still well done and gripping. I really enjoyed how the personal story of the characters mixed with the bigger spy story.
I’m a sucker for a good love triangle. The one where you’re never sure who’s gonna be chosen because there are deep feelings everywhere. This book has one of those. The brotherly love between Jensen and Trent, tainted with the secret between J and Skyla, made the conflicts between them even more emotional. I’d have loved to see more of Skyla and Jensen’s past relationship though–one single flashback and some reminiscence from the characters felt not enough to understand the depth of their feelings for each other. As for Skyla’s relationship with Trent, we see but a glimpse of it since they’re quickly separated–but since it’s a long term relationship, it was easier to see the love between them. Still, that’s one powerful love triangle that kept me on edge until the very end.
The handful of villains who threatened them, despite clear motivations–that I guessed pretty fast–didn’t feel real. More like cartoon villains. Except for one unexpected one. But I won’t spoil the surprise. This one, though, made the whole story more painful to read. Oh, the angst!
And the narration? I wasn’t sold on the female narrator, to be honest. But the two male narrators were perfectly cast. The one doing Trent was especially great with the character. They brought life to those three tortured characters in their search for happiness. A very good listen.

Absolutely Brilliant! Phenomenal Story &Narration🎧
This book is absolutely amazing, it took me a while to get my thoughts together because the mind-blowing story left me speechless and I could not possibly find the right words to give it the praise it deserves. I think the less you know going in the better so I will be vague with details in my review, just know this is no ordinary romantic suspense it is so much more. It is best to go in knowing little and just hold on tight and enjoy the ride. The story drew me in right from the start, it did not just captivate my attention it held it hostage, this is one of the books that you can not put down because you need to know what happens next. Ryleigh Sloan is a gifted author with a brilliant mind and a wonderful writing style, the storylines and characters she created are interesting, original and complex, they are also realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. The descriptive details are fantastic, they bring you in to the story, right along side the characters giving you an inside view of everything they see, think and experience. The book starts out with Skyla and Trent, they’ve been together for three years and their relationship and love is rock solid. Trent works with her dad, a Colonel in the marines, they have been working on a serum that could help soldiers in combat situations and are conducting a study. Trent gets deployed to work with soldiers in the field, one of those soldiers is his brother Jensen. Skyla had met Jensen before Trent, they shared a special time together but he did not want to start anything because he was deploying overseas and did not know when he would be back. He never stopped thinking about her, it was the same for her but after months of moping around she decided to move on and that is when she met Trent, not knowing he was Jensen’s brother. Skyla opted to keep that information from Trent, Jensen went along with it but it left him with a lot of animosity and angst. When their mission in Afghanistan turns into chaos, Trent winds up injured and the mission is halted and they return home. After his return all their lives are turned upside down. I am still in awe of everything that happened this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense that not only took me to the edge of my seat but had my heart pounding so hard I felt like it was going to jump out of my chest, heartfelt emotions and some hot romance. Ryleigh Sloan, thank you for this amazing story and the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Ryleigh Sloan could not have chosen a better cast to bring her characters and their story to life. Jason Clarke, Aaron Shedlock and Kylie Stewart are fabulously talented voice artists, they had a complete understanding of the roles they were playing, took that role and made it their own sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Aaron Shedlock played Trent brilliantly, grasped his persona in each scenario with perfection, Jason Clarke’s Jansen was amazing as well, performed every single one of his emotions and made you feel them. Kylie Stewart’s Skyla shone like the star she was, she captured her strength as well as her vulnerable moments. These three entertaining storytellers delivered an outstanding performance, a performance that enhances an already brilliant story another level. Thank you for this amazing listen!
