Summary
The Christmas Party is a delicious story of romance, family and secrets, by the Sunday Times best-selling author Karen Swan.
When Declan Lorne, the last remaining knight in Ireland, dies suddenly, an ancient title passes with him. But his estate on Ireland’s rugged south-west coast is left to his three daughters. The two eldest, Ottie and Pip, inherit in line with expectations, but to everyone’s surprise - and dismay - it is the errant baby of the family, Willow, who gets the castle.
Why her? Something unknown - something terrible - made her turn her back on her family three years earlier, escaping to Dublin and vowing never to return. So when Willow quickly announces she is selling up, her revenge seems sweet, and the once-close sisters are pushed to breaking point: in desperation, Pip risks everything to secure her own future, and Ottie makes a decision that will ruin lives. It’s each woman for herself.
Before moving in, Connor Shaye, the prospective new owner, negotiates throwing a lavish party at the castle just days before Christmas - his hello, their goodbye. But as their secrets begin to catch up with them, Ottie, Willow and Pip are forced to ask themselves which is harder: stepping into the future, or letting go of the past?

I loved this!
I have never read any of the authors books before and I chose this audible based on reviews. I wanted something lighthearted and uplifting, and this delivered.
I did not find it as predictable as some people said it was, there were enough twists and turns to keep me very interested, I found it delicious.
A wonderful tale of an Irish family.
All my relatives are from Cork and I really enjoyed the cork accent.
I think it is definitely a feelgood book, and I was very sad to see it end.
I will definitely been listening to more of this authors work

Excellent. I’m going to look out for more novels by Karen Swan
Several interesting sub plots layered into a jolly good yarn. Some imaginative metaphors crystallised & brought to life the many scenes. So good to get away from the endless who-done-its & crime-based novels. Narrator very good; easy to listen to.

Modern Fairytale 💜
I was unsure at first. The fact there’s a castle and knights involved I thought it’d be to corny for my liking.
I was so wrong, it was a modern day version with lovely characters. A few twists and turns to keep you guessing.
A lovely listen. I look forward to hearing more from Karen!

Three Sisters, three stories of love
When the three very different Lorne sisters are pulled together in tragedy they couldn't be more different.
I loved the relationships between stubborn Pip, the outcast willow and the prim and not-so-proper Ottie. How they struggle to function as a family amid tragedy and the turmoil of inheritance. The storylines twisting together beautifully.
All three sisters sharing one odd fate - Their love lives are in tatters. I loved this book and completed it over 2 days (if I didn't have to sleep I'd have completed it in one!) If you're a fan of Ireland/Love/Intrigue or all three. Buy it. Xx
