About this listen
Learn to make every moment a once-in-a-lifetime experience with this definitive guide to the Japanese art of ichigo ichie, from the best-selling authors of Ikigai.
Every moment in our life happens only once, and if we let it slip away, we lose it forever - an idea captured by the Japanese phrase ichigo ichie. Often spoken in Japan when greeting someone or saying goodbye, to convey that the encounter is unique and special, it is a tenet of Zen Buddhism and is attributed to a 16th-century master of the Japanese tea ceremony, or 'ceremony of attention', whose intricate rituals compel us to focus on the present moment.
The Book of Ichigo-Ichie: The Art of Making the Most of Every Moment, the Japanese Way is an inspirational work which shows us how to:
- Free ourselves from the past and the future and to make each moment something unique.
- Bring into our lives the Zen that Steve Jobs learned from a Japanese master, and which was key to his success.
- Turn coincidences into a tool for conscious magic.
- Create unforgettable moments in professional and personal circles.
- Improve our relationships with a new type of mindfulness.
- Open the floodgates to the flow of creativity whenever we need it.
The Book of Ichigo Ichie will help you find your ikigai.

An interesting and easy listen. Ichigo Ichie
Really enjoyed this. Great narrator. I have previously listened to a couple of books about the Japanese concept of wabi sabi and I think this book compliments this. I probably got more from this book because I have a basic understanding of wabi sabi. Having said that, I highly recommend either way. I’m now going to buy the actual book, so I can physically flick through it and remind myself of some of the tips and ideas to help me live in the present moment.

An ichigo ichie experience itself
What a pleasure it was to listen to this book. Being of Japanese background, I felt very close to my roots and was reminded of how important it is to never loose connection with our spiritual way of facing life. It took me away from everyday mundane circumstances and fulfilled me with joy, like the light breeze of ocean on a pleasant summer afternoon. I will listen to it again and recommend to anyone in need of reconnecting with their core.

Atmospheric reading
Such a great topic, well explained and very considered about the art of mindfulness. Beautiful read by Louis, who uses his voice to provide a wonderful mindful insight into living in the moment like it is our last. I am so grateful to have listened. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and great to learn key Japanese Concepts for Living Well
Beautifully narrated. Never feeling rushed or too slow. I found this very relaxing and enlightening listening.
Bonus is the clear pronunciation of Japanese terms (not to mention a couple of expressions in of Latin, Italian etc) and a degree of repetition that really helped me to remember. This beautiful approach to harmony, emphasising the heightening of sensations through stillness and awareness in each moment.
Lovingly written and beautifully narrated.
I could easily listen and enjoy this many more times.

Not as good as Ikigai
This was enjoyable, but it doesn't have much to add from the previous book, Ikigai.
