exciting

I loved this story,a gripping tale but you picked the wrong reader. It needed someone who could cope with all the different accents.

Appalling narration

The crime seems secondary to the development of characters, political wrangling and relationships and that's ok - if a little laboured. However the narration is appalling. I'm Irish so I can only imagine how bad some of the regional accents were. Every time the Scottish character spoke I had to remind myself who she was because I was listening to what sounded like an offensive parody of an Indian character. Very hard to get past the accents...even though I appreciate how difficult it must be to cover such a range.

Great book, great series

This book, like the entire Tony Hill series, are characterised by a solid plot that keeps me interested until the very end. The narrator is brilliant with the different regional accents and the perfect tone and tempo all the way throug.

Poor accents

Story ok, bit far-fetched re internal police dealings. Atrocious Asian, West Mids and Liverpool accents that made me cringe!

Poor narration

A good story line completely spoilt by a poor narrator who often sounded like a child of five reading his lines.

Great as usual

I love this series of books, however please change the narrator for the next one, his accents for characters wander so badly it distracts from the story.

Improvement on Book 8

Any additional comments?

This book could have been so much more enjoyable with a different narrator. I like Saul as a narrator and have listened to many books read by him. However for some reason he just gets this narration wrong. Too slow, the female voices whiney and Tony Hill sounds pathetic and weak. The tempo needs to be more up beat, not ponderous and dreary. These books in the beginning were fantastic, what has happened. Is it time to just put the whole series to bed?

Spoilt by Poor Narration

The story was quite good, if frankly unbelievable in places, but the narrator was dire.
