Summary
Holly Stewart moved into Solace House thinking it would be a fresh start for her and her family. She knew a tragic murder had taken place there, but she didn’t know the full ghastly history of the house.
Now, her husband has lost his job, the children are bullied at school, and someone is prowling around the garden at night. Someone who wants them gone.
Detective Jackman wants to help. Instead he’s been pulled into a 20-year-old cold case. The gruesome murder of a young woman whose head was never found. A new witness comes forward. He claims to have crucial evidence on what really happened that night.
Days later, a group of litter-pickers uncover black sacks containing dismembered human limbs. Attending the scene, DS Marie Evans is shocked to see a strange symbol carved into the victim’s flesh: the same symbol found on the headless girl all those years ago.
The murders must be connected. But why has the killer struck again — after 20years?
As the threats to the Stewart family escalate, Jackman must choose between helping people in the present and solving the crimes of the past.
Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you hooked until the explosive ending.

Fantastic Continuation & Narration
It’s been a whole year since we had a new insight of Jackman & Evans, didn’t really want this one to end it was absolutely brilliant.
Cult, cold case, history, all embroidered within the rich tapestry of each of the characters lives.
Joy Ellis & Richard Armitage at their finest.
More please and not so long a wait for another instalment this time.
I’ve loved the Jackman & Evans books since the very first one a few years ago, this one definitely leads us nicely into the wish for another.
Five stars from me!

It’s all about the Narrator!
I always love Jo Ellis stories but what truly makes them is Richard Armitage… arguably the best performer on Audible

Unsurprisingly good
I’ve listened to all the others in the series, and yes of course the plot is completely far fetched, but it’s well written, the characters see a lot of development and the narration is excellent.
I only had time to download one audiobook before a long trip and I was very happy with my choice!

Another Great Crime Story
Continuing with the Jackman and Evans series, another twisted tale of wrong doings on The Fens. A look into “cult” dealings and there repercussions. A delve into the private lives of our two heroes, sadness for one and the start of happiness for the other.

This series improves as it goes on, Joy Ellis is by far my favourite author, her storytelling is unequalled.

Solace House
I love these books anyway but this was very good and exciting from start to finish. Acting and story is always top quality and I can’t wait till I’m listing to another one. The way Joy Ellis writes is just magical and I was so wrapped up in the story that I was playing it everyday and couldn’t get enough.
