About this listen

Chaz Perrone has just found a way to make a fortune out of the Florida Everglades, and he's damned if anyone's going to stop him. So when he suspects that his wife, Joey, is going to get in his way, he takes her on an expensive anniversary cruise and pushes her overboard into the night-dark Atlantic.

Unfortunately for Chaz, Joey survives the fall and is plucked from the ocean by a former cop, Mick Stranahan. Joey decides to stay dead and screw with Chaz until he screws himself.

A Laugh out Loud Book

Jeff Harding is his usual brilliant self in the narration and this was one of the few books that has made me laugh out loud. Great book to lift your spirits on a wet Sunday afternoon

Absolutely brilliant

Loved every minute of it - made that much better by the awesome narrator Jeff Harding. His ability to act different characters even women - is second to none. All in all a wonderful read/listen. Highly recommended.

Entertaining

If you're looking for a serious crime read then pass on by - this is a comedy. That said it is entertaining, plenty of twists and turns and the usual master performance by Jeff Harding - not by any means my usual choice but I actually enjoyed it

Very Enjoyable

This is a nice easy listening book with plenty of twists and turns. Many of the characters are larger than life and the although the book is good fun to listen to it makes some important points about the preservation of swamps in Florida.

Entertaining

Enjoyed Jeff Hardings narration of another funny crime story by the masterful Hiaasen. I laughed out loud at the sex scene in Ch8. Cheer yourself up and have a listen!

Hiassen at his outlandish best

Excellent narration by Mr. Harding, brilliant characters and outrageously funny. I have listened and read to most of Carl's books and they are always brilliant.

Interesting plot...but plodding in places

I enjoyed this book (especially the narration) but did find there was quite a lot of detailed explanations that really slowed the story down. I think this may be one of the author's early novels and expect that the later novels are more integrated. The people were believable and I did grin a lot listening to some of the character descriptions, but towards the end it began to drag a little, and the last two chapters (which was a whole hour) was just "tying up looses ends" unnecessarily. Overall however I did enjoy this book and will listen to another by Carl Hiaasen

Funniest book by a contemporary author?

Author and narrator both world class. Never laughed more and really looking forward to reading more. A gem
