About this listen
Noah Brown has a gift for fighting.
Unfortunately, punching things doesn't pay the bills, at least until he died and an Eldritch god found his soul.
The encounter brings him to a new world, summoned by bloody cultists. He's got nothing but the shirt on his back and a strange item in his system menu.
[???]: A source of infinite potential.
Perhaps he'll finally get to put his gift to good use.
Don't miss the start of an action-packed crunchy LitRPG series from KrazeKode, author of The First Law of Cultivation. Loaded with stats, skills, combat, and power progression, it's perfect for fans of Iron Prince, Road to Mastery, and He Who Fights with Monsters!

System adventure
Enjoyable story has a lot of same mechanics as he who fights with monsters,
he seems to swear a lot but I think that's just the character its a lot more about small quests and adventure and his powers seem very unique

Don't listen to the mouthbreathers
It's an enjoyable story with dark elements. If you've read some of the other reviews you'll have seen the comparison with HWFWM but, despite having a few common tropes or elements, they're hardly alike or as much alike as any fiction that happens to have cultists and eldritch beings in them. If that's the measure then I imagine it would be very hard to enjoy most books after getting the most rudimentary introduction to fantasy fiction. I can say that, as much as I've enjoyed HWFWM, at least the mc in this doesn't annoy me nearly as much.

A fun and interesting world with skills, levels and power progression. A great first book in a new series and looking forward to getting book 2.

have I read this before....?
got to agree with some of the other reviews, its like someone didn't like HWFWM so decided they could do better or liked it so much they couldn't think of a different story line. At the start I was like okay I can see why people would say that then by the end it was starting to get a bit old. The book is good, I would say give it a go but if you are like me you will be hoping book 2 shows the difference and makes it his own.

Need a Noah? I know a guy
Rise of the Devourer: Voidborne by #krazekode. 😁 As a listener, this book leaned heavily on #HeWhoFightswithMonsters by #Shirtaloon read by @veryheathmiller. To me, this was a bad thing showing a clear lack of originality: the MC's progression was very similar and I was bored.
The only redeeming factor in this book was @PeterKennyVoice although his American accent is almost as bad as his Thai accent 🤪. IMO he was the wrong man for the job - he deserves a better task to show his incredible range of voices.
But it wasn't a complete failure. The murder bunny and administrator characters were my favourite aspects to this book and one of the few redeeming qualities - the latter with a voice akin to #Siri from the #Witcher series, which I absolutely adored. 📚3/5⭐️#bookreview

Weird but Good
Some interesting uses of powers, I especially like how he fixes his arm. The world is as very interesting. I like how the eclipse causes madness

I enjoyed it
yes it borrows from other books in this genre but so does every other one of them it's just part of the whole thing. Not sure why some people are so upset about it. I'll get the next one when it's out

Good 1st book
It's a really good book and I look forward to the next book in the series. Main character is a bit annoying but overall is a cool guy. 5 stars
