Summary
I am Blackmane, feared warlord of the Pleiades. I have captured a human princess. Pretty. Sweet. Innocent. Ripe for the plucking. I will have my way with her, and her father will pay handsomely for her return.
Won’t he?
As the days go by and my ransom demands go unmet, as my guards go missing and are found in pieces, as my spacefaring stronghold falls into terror and chaos, I realize I have made a huge mistake.
This sweet royal angel is an absolute monster. There’s only one thing to be done with little monsters. They need to be broken. They need to be tamed. And they need to be claimed. Forever.

Dark Alien Romance
Ransom by Loki Renard is a dark alien romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Aaron Smith.
This is the first book of Loki's that I have read, and it won't be my last. It's been a while since I read an Alien romance and I sure have missed them. I really enjoyed the relationship between Astaria and Blackmane. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.
Aaron did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of his work in the future.

Strong leading lady
This leading lady is one of the strongest I’ve read/listened to ever. There’s no softness to her at all. With a good storyline and hot as hell sexy times i really enjoyed it. Great performance.

Brilliant adaptation
Astaria is a princess with a difference. She is not a disney princess, she is a little unhinged and stabby. When she is kidnapped by the famous Blackmane, he is surprise when the men on his ship start truning up dead.
This a darkly humorous steamy story with alot of steam.
I enjoyed this story and the narration is excellent.

Entertaining & Humorous
Ransom is a wonderfully written sci-fi alien romance. The plot, world-building, and characters are well-developed, imaginative, and intriguing, holding my attention. The connection and chemistry between Astaria and Blackmane were well-portrayed. Their story was fast-paced, delightful, humorous, and steamy; I was definitely entertained.
Aaron Smith did an amazing job with the narration and portraying the characters. His deep voice was perfect for Blackmane, and his tone adjusted very well for Astaria. Overall, Ransom was an entertaining and enjoyable listen, one I'll recommend to fans of the genre.

Good
This was fantastic. Loved the pace of this book. The dual POV worked really well. And the happy ever after works well, and I can already see whats going on in the future. Good stuff.

Lots of inconsistencies
Alien Blackmane (not a fan of the name) captures his arch enemy's daughter Princess Astaria, who he intends to impregnate and send back after he's received his ransom. However, the longer he keeps Astaria the more his men get killed off.
A huge amount of tongue in cheek is required when reading this book. I love the idea of Astaria being a psychotic silent assassin, but considering the men she takes out are hardened warrior's, that they must weigh a ton and are not easily moved, it wasn't very realistic. However what really didn't make sense was the constant contradictions that plagued this short book. Astaria apparently is so naïve she knows nothing about s3xual pleasure or masturbation, but later says she used to orgasm to Blackmane's picture. She's a virgin and has no knowledge of s3x, but automatically loved being an exhibitionist and engaging in S&M. All of these inconsistencies made for a distracting read. When it came to the interactions with the Fae at the end, that whole section was so rushed through I'm not sure why it was included in the story. I can only assume it was to add length to an already short book. However, the narrator did a great job with all the characters.
I was given this book for free of my own choosing and I voluntarily left this review.
