Great narration
What made a good story excellent for me was Damian Lynch’s narration. His talent for accents and portraying multiple characters made the story rattle along. His ability to bring the characters to life by his narration made me believe I was right in the middle of the drama.

The Past That Bites!
Chris Merritt has followed up his debut with a very solid second book. Detective Zac Boateng finding a tragic incident in his past catching up both with him and people he knows. Merritt once again marries an excellent psychological approach to the police procedural genre. His lead and his family are easy to get behind and believe in as their difficult family life is threatened by events.
The London setting is brought to life by the combination of Merritt's direct, uncomplicated prose and Lynch's tough guy narration. Though it's worth noting that Lynch brings all of the characters to life nicely, he isn't just a hard man!
Plot-wise I didn't feel this flowed quite as well as the first book but it still generated plenty of tension and rather than the list of authors that Audible liken it to I would say it's more in Peter James's DI Grace or Tony Parsons's Max Wolfe than say Child's Jack Reacher.
This looks to be a more than decent series that's likely to be well worth following.

Worth a credit
Definitely worth listening to, Zac does sometimes behave in an odd or unreasonable manner which seems to cause some of his problems, however, overall I like his character and his relationships with his family.
The plot is good, a little irritating in parts as I tend to think 'he wouldn't respond like that......'. Not one of my favourite writers, but I have enjoyed this trilogy.

Fantastic character studies, compelling story
This was such a joy to listen to. Merritt captures the characters beautifully and tells a story which kept me guessing right up until the end. Impressive work for a young writer!
