About this listen
They had only one thing in common - William Lowell Kane and Abel Rosnovski, one the son of a Boston millionaire, the other a penniless Polish immigrant. Two men born on the same day on opposite sides of the world, their paths were destined to cross in the ruthless struggle to build a fortune.
The marvellous story, spanning 60 years, of two powerful men linked by an all-consuming hatred, brought together by fate to save - and finally destroy - each other.

Kane and Abel is ageless masterpiece
Many years ago my Dad put down a copy of Kane and Abel and said it was one of the best books he'd ever read. I forgot all about it for 30 years until I put down a copy of Kane and Abel and said that was one of the best books I'd ever read. Story telling at its absolute best.

Jeffrey Archer author not politician :)
I have now read this book several times and each time it seems like a new book - amazing storyline but a very sad ending. It brings a tear to my eyes every time I read it.
If you have not read Jeffrey Archer you really should give it a shot - he is a wonderful writer.

Beginning of an Epic story
Captivating from beginning to end. I'm going straight into the next book in the series.
The two main characters are very much a rags and riches pair and seeing how their lives converge from such drastically different backgrounds is sometimes frustrating, always interesting and considering the book is over 30 years old being a period setting it has not she's at all.
The narrator is very good with different voices for each character, the only downside for me is that William Kane sounds like Mayor Quimby from The Simpsons, I got over it fairly quickly though!

Very good - thoroughly enjoyed
Very good - thoroughly enjoyed - the narrator was exceptional bar a few American mis-pronunciations. It's a long story so you need to pace yourself - hardly ever a dull moment and also quite inspiring.

A Superb Story
This is one of Geoffrey Archer's best books written beautifully. The story spans many years and many countries and has been very well researched. A great feel good yarn

Kept me engrossed
Don’t like Archer’s politics and I’m not sure about him as person. I spent years avoiding his books, but have to admit he’s a great storyteller.
Bit formulaic, but engrossing nevertheless. This one’s about two individuals from very different backgrounds. The hardships endured were heartbreaking and I felt real empathy for the character. Later life relationships are fully explored, along with conflicts and bloody mindedness. Built into a gripping tale. I’m going to have to read or listen to the next...

One of the must read books
I read it when I was a young man in 1979, and 40 years on I read it again when I’m 63, interesting reflecting on the life journeys of the characters in the book. As a young man I was looking forward and now I’m looking back. I think it ranks in my top 3, along with ‘The Remains of the Day’, and ‘The Godfather’.
