Summary

The Eleventh Commandment is narrated by Michael Brandon, most famous for playing James Dempsey in the 1980’s television crime drama, Dempsey and Makepeace. His extensive theatre career spans Broadway and the West End, where he played Jerry Springer in Jerry Springer: the Opera for the National Theatre.
Jeffrey Archer is a bestselling British author and former politician. He was educated at Oxford and went on to become a Member of Parliament, the deputy chair of the Conservative Party as well as sitting in the House of Lords. His political career ended in scandal and he turned to writing, where he has been published in over 250 countries.
He is perhaps most famous for the Clifton Chronicles and his blockbuster Kane and Abel which was number one on the New York Time’s Bestseller list and inspired a popular miniseries starring Peter Strauss and Sam Neill.
After he was imprisoned for perjury in 2001, he wrote his highly acclaimed non-fiction series, Prison Diaries - Hell, Purgatory and Heaven - which were inspired by his experiences and loosely structured around Dante’s Inferno.

NOT ONE OF HIS BEST
Being a fan of the author I had high hopes but they were soon dashed as I was not impressed by the narrator just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you’re any good.
The beginning was difficult to follow and I listened to another book and went back to this and managed to finish it. My advice don’t bother.

JA - this has just got to be one his best
As soon as I started listening to The Eleventh Commandment it was obvious it was written when Archer was at his best, completely different style from the newer books.,Cracking story line, extremely well written and narrated, the sort of book you don't want to put down. The narrator's performance is top drawer

Good story
I’ve enjoyed the majority of Jeffrey Archers books and this one was no different. Other than a couple of accents that weren’t very convincing a complicated storyline that came together at the end. I would recommend this audiobook to all.

Very enjoyable
Delighted with this free offering and enjoyed the story. Some parts stretched the imagination but overall it held my interest and I looked forward to hearing more. Would recommend it.

"His last mission."
Connor Fizgerald has spent a lifetime as a successful CIA agent but, with retirement only a few weeks away, he is sent on a final unwelcome mission he wrongly believes is personally endorsed by the President himself. it wasn't. Instead, it was a desperate move initiated by his boss to cover her earlier actions. Connor is on his own. The eleventh commandment: do not get caught.
Archer has written an immersive and twisty thriller which surprises the reader as it progresses, especially in the hidden depths of the commitment held by others towards the lead character, given what a remote figure he appears to be. Detailed description provides a feel of authenticity in what would otherwise be a too preposterous scenario and some loose ends are left entirely to the reader's imagination, such as the fate of a young, grieving boy named Sergei. However, this is a fast paced tale which sweeps the reader with it as it gathers speed from the attention grabbing beginning to the (almost) unexpected end, encouraged throughout by the fine, calm, well intoned narration of Michael Brandon.
An enjoyable story, and included in the Audible read for free for UK members

Brilliant!
Jeffrey Archer is an excellent story teller, and this book is no exception. I couldn't stop listening. Kept me guessing til the very end. Highly recommended.
