About this listen
A tragic family event reveals devastating news that rips apart Bella's comfortable existence. Embarking on a personal journey to uncover the truth, she faces a series of traumatic discoveries that take her to the ruggedly beautiful Cornish coast, where hidden truths, past betrayals and a 25-year-old mystery threaten not just her identity but her life.
Chilling, complex and profoundly moving, In Her Wake is a gripping psychological thriller that questions the nature of family - and reminds us that sometimes the most shocking crimes are committed closest to home.

Easy listening
Leaves me with a cosy peace. Rather a sweet story. Initially I was put off a little by the narration. I can't explain why. But after a while, I realised the narration worked perfectly with the story. I'll look for other books by both the narrator and the author.

Much better than predicted
When I started to listen to this, I was not sure, but the story got better and better, even ignoring the surreal bits. Good story, good listen and lovely mentions of St. Ives.

More afternoon drama than gripping thriller.
Not what I thought. Started off well as I was engrossed in what was going to happen, knowing something was going to pop up and knock Bella's life on its head.
Now I enjoyed it, it was a good story although nothing really shocked me, I kept waiting for something worse to happen. I would pop this under family with an awful secret genre rather than a chilling gripping psychological thriller.
I wasn't over keen on Bella, I thought some other characters too were going to be wrong un's but that didn't happen either, I know she is a product of her circumstances, they all are, but.... I don't know. I guess it was a bit too nice with a bit of 'ooh how awful' thrown in for me.
Afternoon drama rather than after the watershed....

Brilliant
Unusual tale on an issue not often looked around. Full of surprises not predictable at all. I was gripped from beginning to end. Beautifully written and so well narrated ...great accents. The whole book sounded real all the way through. More like this book and narrator please.

Not the thriller I expected
I didn't really feel the reader suited the story. I'm not sure why but she sounded so different to how the main character felt in my head that I gave up and read the second half of the book. The story itself is well written, but not the thriller take I expected. Am excellent plot twist at the end was wasted imo as it was covered so fast in the story.

Worth persisting
I tried to finish this book once before but struggled with the beginning. However, having given it more time and got beyond the opening chapter I really enjoyed it. OK some of the characters were a bit one dimensional but the story at the heart of the novel - a naive woman's search for her true identity - captivated me. I came to like the dysfunctional little family and wanted to find out whar happened. A predictable ending I suppose but an enjoyable and easy listen that won't tax your brain at all.

Very good
Not the kind of story I was expecting, having read the summary, but nonetheless I wasn't disappointed. it kept me interested to see what happens next throughout the story and the narrator told it beautifully.
