About this listen
For fans of He Said/She Said and Anatomy of a Scandal, Penny Hancock’s I Thought I Knew You is about secrets and lies – and whose side you take when it really matters.
Who do you know better? Your oldest friend? Or your child? And who should you believe when one accuses the other of an abhorrent crime?
Jules and Holly have been best friends since university. They tell each other everything, trading revelations and confessions and sharing both the big moments and the small details of their lives: Holly is the only person who knows about Jules’ affair; Jules was there for Holly when her husband died. And their two children - just three years apart - have grown up together.
So when Jules’ daughter, Saffie, makes a rape allegation against Holly’s son, Saul, neither woman is prepared for the devastating impact this will have on their friendship or their families. Especially as Holly, in spite of her principles, refuses to believe her son is guilty.

Enthralling read
This is the story of 2 friends who both have teenage children. The child of one of the friends accused the other of rape. The friends ultimately fall out as they refuse to believe the other's child. it was gut wrenching as no mother would want to be in either of these situations. I did find the accused's mother a little irritating at times. Her son is accused but she defends him to the hilt. Nothing wrong with that but she didn't even discuss it with him until the husband of the friend threatens to harm her son. I couldn't imagine my child being accused and I choose to turn a blind eye. I would at least tell them what was being said. It was a good read although I felt some parts were added without any thought. personally I would have hated to be in either of those women's position.

Great story, characters and imagery
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the ethical dilemmas were thought provoking, whilst keeping the plot vivid and interesting. I don’t often review as many titles are similar but this stood out for me.

A tight page turner.
I loved this book, a real gripper, kept me hanging on in there page after page...only criticism was the very odd epilogue, weak, ambiguous and not sure what it was meant to convey, confusing and inconclusive. Otherwise, a great read.

Worth a listen!
The narrator of this book did a great job, the book was good overall. Truthfully I’d worked out all the twists before the story got there. But still I wanted to hear it all unfold. A good listen nonetheless. Characters reactions slightly questionable at times but have definitely heard/read worse in other books!

It was more than OK
There were definitely times where I loved the book but there were also times where I just thought this is just so so so so long - can we just get the climax. Overall, I would recommend .

One of the best...
This is one of the best audiobooks I ever 'read'.
Well worked out story. I could hardly stop listening.
A book about friendships and loyalties. About how they are influenced by what happens.
