Summary
A secluded island. A dark and stormy night. A treasure worth its weight in cake....
Reverend Annabelle Dixon, a madcap vicar with a taste for sweets and a nose for crime, has agreed to fill in for the local minister on the tiny Scottish island of Blodraigh. For Annabelle, it’s a chance to get away and spend some time with her brother and young niece who live on the storm-swept island.
But she has no idea she’s about to be drawn into a web of mystery and intrigue when a dead body connected to a mysterious theft plunges the island's secretive community into chaos.
Horror in the Highlands is the fifth audiobook in a furiously fast-paced, funny new series featuring a young female vicar whose passion and dedication to her parish are matched only by her weakness for cake.

A wee mystery
I really enjoyed this story. I don't normally like to listen to a book from the same series straight after each other because the plots tend to blend into each other but that is so not the case with this fun series and I just can't stop listening. Each book is fresh, entertaining and contains a good mystery. In the case of this book Annabelle is visiting her brother in Scotland ,where even out of her element she still manages to solve a murder and help the villagers. I had guessed the killer but mainly because I didn't like the character, okay I hoped I was right and there was a happier out come for a certain character. Annabelle might be out of her beloved village but I liked how the author set it up so the budding romance could continue. The story was well written and paints a very vivid picture making it easy to imagine the Scottish countryside, even if you haven't been. Just a delightful cosy mystery . Off to start the next book.
When her brothers local vicar needs to take a break from the harsh Scottish weather Annabelle agrees to step in and spend time with her brother and his young daughter in the process. However when her nieces young friend turns to her for advice about a box of jewellery, Annabelle had no idea that it would lead to them being stolen and somebody murdered. The small village having no police force of the own and a storm preventing the police from the mainland investigating, it's up to Annabelle to find the killer.
I liked the narrator. She even had to do some Scottish accents in this book making you feel like you were right by Annabelle's side as she questioned the suspects.
