Summary

A tense, furious and gripping thriller that asks does silence keep women safe - or protect those harming them? Perfect for fans of MY DARK VANESSA and I MAY DESTROY YOU.

Today, nothing is going right for Em. And it's about to get much worse.

Heartbroken by a recent split, with her 30th birthday looming, she loses her job and her home in the same morning because of two swaggering, dishonest men - the boss who sexually harassed her and the flatmate sleeping with her behind his fiancée's back. But all Em can think about is catching a flight to attend her sister's wedding and see her dying mother.

With a record-breaking heatwave, and a serial killer making the streets unsafe, London is completely gridlocked. Em's life has always been full of men getting their own way, and today the scorched city teems with them standing between her and home. As Em's troubled past returns to haunt her, she refuses to let them win. Her defiance leads to shocking consequences that soon spiral wildly out of control.

In a world where men don't listen, and girls have no voice, one woman can change everything.

Today, no one will be staying silent.

wow

I don't know where to start with this review because I wanted to write it once I finished listening to it and all I got to say it was fantastic and that's coming from a man by the way it got me thinking of how I use to many years ago in the past treat people and the main character EM isn't a man hating feminist like others would have you think the twist and turns in the story is gripping and will make you feel Natali Simmonds has written a fantastic story and needs to be shared and shown to everyone I loved it and I think it hit home hard because I was listening to it but 100% recommended anyone to read or listen to it

Relatable on many levels

I really enjoyed this story and felt invested in the main characters. I could picture every scene. I thought the choice of narrator was good, but I really wish she wouldn’t elongate the sound at the end of a sentence. I found that so distracting and at times had to force myself to keep listening.

Keeps you intrigued until the end.

I started listening and wondered at first where the plot was going to take me….. Then I needed to sneak off so I could keep listening and binge the ending!!

Unputdownable

Such a great listen. The characters are so real & it speaks about how it really feels to be a woman at times.

Tense & emotional odyssey

You can feel the stifling heat and ‘Em’s’ mounting frustration in every well crafted sentence. Everything that she experiences is utterly, tragically credible.

dreadful

was a real struggle to get through this. it's incredibly boring, the writing is clunky and just awful, the characters are cringey and one-dimensional. this feels like YA tbh, it doesn't feel like an adult novel. really laboured through it and was so glad to be done. should have dnf'd.

also the author needs to learn how to write a kiss. talking about teeth smashing together in a passionate kiss just sounded deranged.
