About this listen

How perfect is too perfect?

Ross Ransome is at the top of his profession; one of the most successful, and certainly one of the richest, plastic surgeons in the business. Such a man would expect his wife to be perfect - and why not? After all, he has spent enough hours in surgery to get her that way. But when his wife falls ill she turns her back on conventional medicine, and her arid marriage, and seeks help from the world of alternative medicine and a charismatic therapist who promises not just medical salvation. For Ransome, this is the ultimate betrayal. It defies logic, and Ross Ransome is a profoundly logical man. Logically, he can see no reason why any man should have his wife when he can't. It's all completely rational....

Superb!

Gripping from start to finish. Excellent story and narrator. An interesting thriller focusing around Faith a women who has a life threatening viral disease contracted on holiday and two men in her life. Will she opt for alternative offered by her doctor lover or conventional medicine recommended by her husband who is plastic surgery surgeon to save her life? Suspense throughout as everyone involved even the hired private investigater has to battle with their consciences. I recommend this book and Peter James 'Alchemist' another excellent thriller focussing on the controversy of pharmaceutical companies.

It passed the time

The narrator was not a good choice, I found her increasingly irritating to listen but stuck it to the end. Not up to the usual standards I have to say.

A masterpiece of modern writing

I have read many of Peter James amazing books, but this one is the best I've read yet. An edge of the seat, fast paced thriller. Brilliantly narrated by Katie Scarle.

Disappointing

Not much of a story really and I found the narration irritating in places. I have read most of Peter James' books but struggled with this one

Good bones but too much sloppy stuff

The basis of the story was quite promising and I enjoyed it to start with. I don't agree with some of the criticisms of the narrator as it's hard for a woman with a fairly high voice to do so many men's voices and she did a good job considering that. However there was too much' romance' for my taste much of which was quite cliched.

Gripping thriller with excellent narration

I read the audible reviews which seemed to be quite negative but because it’s Peter James and due to the clip I heard of him talking I thoughtI’d try it anyway and boy I’m glad I did! I listen to a lot of audio books on here from the boring to the brilliant and I return a lot but this one is up there with the best of Peter James. I don’t agree with the negative review about narration either. The female narrator is excellent and I honestly can’t fault this experience. Up there with the best for me. Wow something about the plot is so gripping I’m getting really emotionally involved with it and that’s the mark of a great writer and plot for me. I’m on the edge of my seat as the plot thickens...wow.

One of Peter James Best So Far

Another excellent listen Peter James' Las three novels have been brilliant listens. Absolute Proof, Dead At First Sight and now, Faith all come highly recommended. Katie Scarfes' performance is superb, I look forward to hearing her narrate again.
