Summary
Seventy years ago, the world ended in chaos.
Portals appeared on Earth, forcing everyone to make a choice: Enter or die. However, if they managed to survive through all twelve planets in the system, they would be allowed to return home. Humanity fought bitterly and, in the end, succeeded, but the cost was high.
Nate lost everyone he’s cared about, and after stepping through the final portal, he makes a shocking discovery. Earth is part of the system and what’s left of humanity is too weak to go home. Returning to the scene of the battle, Nate finds the unexpected–a new portal. A single step takes him back in time, to the day when the end of the world began.
Given the chance to fix the mistakes of his past, Nate will do all he can to ensure that humanity–and more importantly, his family–is strong enough to survive this time around. Manipulating events won't be easy. Knowledge is power but, more importantly, in the System of Twelve, power is power.
Rewriting history was never on Nate’s to-do list, but seeing as he’s the only viable candidate, he’ll give it his best shot or die trying.
End of the World is a progression fantasy with GameLit and tower climber elements.

Not the hero you want, the monster you need!
i enjoyed the evolution of nate and the ending's dark actions alot. Highly recommended to any who are looking for a more antihero story then the normal butter wouldn't melt guy one.

I loved it!
By the end of the prologue this story had me. I love the whole aspect of Nate's situation. The story is energetic, addictive and honestly just really entertaining. It has so much potential and I cannot wait for the second book. The only fault I can give is that I wish it could have been twice as long.

Hidden Gem
This was a much better experience than I was honestly expecting. Good story, amazing performance and a very good execution of the 'go back in time' trope

An exciting time reset story with a non OP MC
The story is an exciting time reset tale where the MC containing all the knowledge of the last 80 years is sent back to try and right the wrongs, and with luck ensure the survival of humanity.
As with all these stories the butterfly effect is strong with even small changes having knock on effects and there lies part of the story as the MC tackles with what they know, what they must do and with what now is.
Told by the amazing JTJ of SBT his narration adds layers of gravitas to the MC giving him the weight of someone with experience rather than a clueless 20 year old who is winging it.
A great addition to ones collection.

A lot of potential
Was really enjoying the beginning of the book. It had all the signs of a great time loop novel often characterised by smart MCs using their experience in interesting and novel ways.
Instead the MC here is inexplicably losing most encounters he comes across or almost dying most of the time. Throw in some caricature russian villains : "we are big strong men, you are little woman" .... and you wonder what the author was thinking.
The author also seems to be in love with exposition, especially in fight scenes, which really detracts from the combat as he explains every thought in the MCs head and why he is acting the way he is.
The ending of the novel also came out of nowhere and not in a good way. Seemed extremely out of character for the MC we had seen so far and was very unsatisfying.
Only thing saving this novel is the potential of the premise and the great voice acting from Soundbooth Theatre which I really enjoyed.

And I Feel Fine
Overall a pleasant listen. The world/systems that the author was trying to establish could have been explained a bit more (some of the powers seem OP and there is no consistency that I can ascertain). I like the time loop mechanic but I get the feeling that things are going to go way off the rails from what Nate remembers pretty quickly.
The only thing that turned me off a bit was the combat descriptions seemed overly chaotic, cool but needed a 2nd listen to fully understand what was going on.
JTJ's portrayal of Nate was haunting. Came off as someone who has seen some things and is scarred because of them. Perfect fit for Nate and his situation.
Looking forward to book 2.
