Summary
THE ISLES OF SCILLY MYSTERIES # 5
When a young child goes missing on the Isles of Scilly, the community rushes to help DI Ben Kitto and his team with the search. Her twin brother, Ethan, was there when she was taken. But the shocking events of her disappearance have rendered him mute.
Another person on the island knows exactly where the girl is. Someone with a deep-seated anger for Jade's family. To find the truth, Kitto must investigate the lives of the people he has known all of his life. People he trusts and respects. And he must do it quickly—because it isn't long until a body is found....

Thoroughly enjoyable!
I recommend this book. It's a great listen. The storyline is good and it's very well narrated. I look forward to her next novel!

Not up to the usual standard of this author
The storyline was good but I felt I was being completely led by the nose through the whole book rather than being able make deductions about characters for myself. It felt as if the author was writing for young children rather than adults. Ben Kitto made some silly mistakes and his thought dialogue was tediously foolish; he didn't really come across as a police inspector. I won't be reading any more of this series should there be any. The narrator did his best but the silk purse never materialised. Disappointing overall.

Good series
The Scilly Isles setting makes for an atmospheric story - and that helps get over the rather contrived plot.

Devil's Table
Although enjoyable, five books in, these murder mysteries set in Scilly are getting a tad samey.

love these books and it didn't disappoint.
Can't wait for the next one! Pretty much binge listened to this and could listen to Stephen Perring's voice for hours. He is my favourite narrator.

A bit disappointed
I'm a fan of this series but this book is much less interesting than it's predecessors.
It feels like the author is retreading old ground and constantly misdirecting the listener/reader regarding suspects. They did this in previous books but it feels much more intrusive and more often in this one.
The performance is still excellent by Stephen Perring

What a story
Not too many characters to confuse or so few to limit. A good story well plotted. The description of the link between the twins was great.

Enjoyable story but one character spoils it.
I have listened to this series out of order. I’ve enjoyed the setting and the characters with one exception. Ben’s girlfriend, Nina, is spoiling the books completely for me. She is controlling and obnoxious, constantly nagging Ben to emote for her. She is trying to change him completely so why he stays with her is a mystery. She seems to have no good qualities, in spite of numerous mentions of her kindness and understanding. I was hoping she was going to die at the end of one of the books but, alas, she survived. I’m not sure I can listen to any more of these stories while she is in them.

Boring!
An awful lot of runaround an unnecessary characters, backstory for whom had no real impact on the outcome of the mystery. Predictable, with a somewhat droning voice narrating also. Really struggled to finish it
