Summary

Meet Zoe Finch, West MIdlands Police's newest detective inspector. She's outspoken, ambitious, and damaged. And she's working a case that could make her career, or cost her everything....

Fresh from the success of the Canary investigation into depravity and corruption at the highest levels, Zoe has attracted attention. Not least from Assistant Chief Constable Bryn Jackson.

But when Jackson is brutally murdered on the night of his retirement party, Zoe is dragged into a case that's deeply personal.

All the evidence points to the victim's downtrodden wife, who has secrets of her own.

But Zoe begins to suspect all isn't as it seems. Could Jackson's death be linked to the Canary case? And what is her new boss, DCI David Randle, hiding?

Seeking out the truth will force Zoe to confront her own past and put not just her career, but her team's lives on the line.

Listen to Zoe Finch's first three cases: Deadly Wishes, Deadly Choices and Deadly Desires. A gritty crime series perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Caroline Mitchell, and the BBC's Line of Duty.

Improved with each book

I wasn’t keen on the narrator to start with it was very stilted. But by the end f book 2 I was completely sucked in can’t wait for new volumes to be released

Good third story

I did enjoy this trilogy even though I felt the story bounced from one 'clue' to another. And the Narrator was poor throughout the books. When the plot quickened, she sped up her speech to such a rate you cannot make out what she is saying. She made each of the young characters sound like someone from an Enid Blyton Secret Seven story. 🙄 Extremely annoying.

Great story, poor narration.

The story is gripping, imaginative and classic police style without having everything explained.

I couldn't get on with the narration; the narrative was spoken with too much emphasis that it was hard to keep up with, and dialog spoken too quickly with unfortunate questionable accents.

Great series

Enjoyed these three books. Onto the next in the series now. Thought the narrator did a good job too.

A great discovery

I really enjoyed these stories and have already bought the next book.
The three books link and ongoing story with three cases but but an overall plot concerning police corruption.
The main character is interesting, not necessarily an appealing character but tough and decisive.
The three book in one are great value.
The narrator was excellent. I don’t understand the poor reviews regarding her. Please don’t let them put you off great stories extremely well narrated. .

Enjoyable 3 book series

I really enjoyed the story line and the way characters linked across the 3 books. Sorry, but I really didn’t enjoy the performance, Accents a bit off and for me not an easy voice to listen to. Realise the narrator can’t help that and I did stick with it as the plot was good.

great story lines in all 3 books

Felt it would have been better to have a male narrator as well as the female... Difficult to tell when a man speaking with a female voice..

Enjoyable

I liked the characters and enjoyed the stories. I liked the narrator. I was relieved that a profiler was introduced in the third book which helped both the detectives and the plot. Still my favourite author is Cari Hunter from the Dark Peak series to Calculated risk
