About this listen

When you’re young, everything seems brighter, more hopeful, and like anything is possible.

Which is great. But it can also lead to so many mistakes.

Mistakes you promise yourself you’ll never make again.

You promise yourself you'll be smarter, guard your heart, and make better decisions. And you won’t ever let anyone crush you again.

But what happens when you’re confronted with the past?

Nash Davis is settled and happy, helping his brother and his wife pursue their dreams. But when his biggest regret comes crashing back into his life, will he have the strength he promised himself he’d have? Can he keep his walls up? Or will Adrian Walker’s presence be too much?

Will it lead toward an inevitable backslide to where they began? Or can there be a future after so much pain?

When Nash and Adrian are thrown together in the Ozarks for months, they’re about to find out.

Nash & Adrian

Reading the blurb, this book had everything I like… and it did but I really wanted some more. Nash and Adrian’s love was a secret for so long that one look at each other after 8 years apart they just rekindle their love. I’m proud of them for not wanting to hide their feelings but a little more angst would have made this book great for me.
Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair were brilliant.

Second chances!

This is a lovely story of two teenager finding themselves and then circumstances having them torn apart. Now, as adults they find each other and Nash is out but his beau isn’t. Adrian is the son of a very conservative senator, and has been inside that closet way too long. It’s a sweet second chance story with great side characters. Good narration by the awesome voices of Devon and Theo.

Excellent storyline

This is a lovely book. With so many that still have a poor attitude about relationships this book addresses that and the way this couple deals with the fallout. Great characters and a fantastic performance.

Contemporary MM Second Chance Romance

Backslide by Nicole Dykes is a contemporary gay romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair.

I love Nicole's books. She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and making me feel what the characters are feeling. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Nash and Adrian. It was messy but I couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Devon and Theo did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like MM romances, second chance romances, or contemporary romances.

Wonderful Story & Listen🎧 Engrossing & Heartfelt!

Nicole Dykes beautifully writes this wonderful second chance romance, pouring her heart into the stories and allowing the emotions to flow off the pages and into your own heart. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Nash Davis was more than happy to help his brother Lawson and his wife Raelynn with their dream and putting his construction skills to use. He helped renovate and build new cabins for their rental business, renting to people who want to get away. Hayden is a business partner and a good friend and when Hayden told him some Senator rented four cabins for two months, he knew having high-profile guests could be a great opportunity and chance to grow the business. The last person he expected to see was the one who broke his heart, the one who ghosted him, Adrian Walker. And making matters worse, he has a girlfriend, one he is supposed to be proposing to. Nash knows Adrian, and he was never into women, so why is he now? Why is he living a lie? Is it for his super conservative, bigoted father? My heart went out to both these guys, Nash, to have to relive a past he put behind him, but one he never really moved on from. And Adrian to have to live a life how his father wanted him to, and go as far to marry the girl that was chosen for him, all to maintain a certain image in the public eye. When Adrian sees how happy Nash is and how open and accepting his family and friends are, he realizes how much he is missing in life. There is never a dull moment in this book, the plotting and world building is fantastic, as is the character growth and development. I loved how it all played out, the drama, the charm, the heartfelt emotions and the slow burn romance. Nicole Dykes, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration, Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Their skillful portrayal of the characters was spot on and I loved how they took their roles and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Second Chance MM Romance

When a group come to stay at Nash’s Brothers cabins he’s shocked when he sees Adrian his lost love who’s still so far in the closet he needs a map to find his way out. It was a quick listen but the story was complete and the characters were great , well most of them .

Second Chance MM Romance

Backslide is a fairly quick, second chance MM romance. Nash and Adrian find themselves unexpectedly in the same place several years after not having seen each other and when their relationship ended under not the best circumstances. Now, life for Adrian is definitely more complicated, but seeing Nash has put things into perspective and has him looking at what he really wants in his life.

I struggled a little at times with various characters and parts of the story line, but I appreciated the overall message of love and acceptance that the author was conveying. I think Nash and Adrian had some great chemistry and liked that they were willing to ultimately fight for their relationship and their happiness. I do think the audiobook was very well done. The narrators, Devon Ryder and Theo Sinclair did a fantastic job which helped with the overall enjoyment of the story. PinkFlamingoProductions TheFlockVIPReviewTeam

Sweet second chance MM

Backslide is a second chance romance between a man in the closet, but tired of being oppressed by his own family and his obligations, and the guy he left behind.

It's sweet and hit at the same time.
Nash was living a quiet and lonely life with his brother and their family. He was content, but not happy. He was just living.

Adrian was faking in everything. He was dating a girl that he didn't love, working for a father that he didn't respect, or that respected him, and forever in the closet.

Until they meet again, when he was supposed to propose to his girlfriend in the grounds of Nash's family cabins.

It's good to see Adrian finally stood up for himself. It was good to see why he left Nash behind, even if I hated him for it.

As always I was in love with Nash's family and the accept he had from his brother and sister in law.

I'll be definitely be listening to Outcast!

Both narrators did a great job here!

Audiobook obsession reviewer, flock reviewer

Wow, this was such a wonderful read, there was so much happening and I loved the back and forth between the main characters. The. Second chance aspect of this book was amazing and so well written. It felt natural and believable between the main characters.

I also found that the narration added a lot to the storyline it enhanced so many of the emotions and the way back to happiness.
